bummed out about my Engagement ring...

I just noticed this morning that one of the diamond chips must have fallen out!! I just picked the ring up this past SAT!!

sigh and aargh!! I am going to the store immediately after work...I did not get any insurance or anything so I hope I don't have a hard time with them...but really, it's only been 5 days!?!?!?!? So I'm thinking I will be ok. My sister in law is meeting me there just in case...

sorry, just am venting a bit..I will be so bummed because that means I have to go another 5 days without my ring! I had to wait after we picked it out too because it has to be sized..

DF was too cute when I called him earlier to tell him..he was like "how will everyone know you're engaged?".....tee hee. It was adorable...sometimes he's that way, you know when he's not aggravating...LOL

sigh...anyone have any related experiences with new rings? I'm curious...

aww that's a bummer!

My ring has a tiny crack in the metal, that appeared after I had it sized. I did'nt notice it right away though, so we never got it fixed. I have not ::knock on wood:: lost any stones yet! I hope I never do!!! Good luck, I hope you can sort it out!

I had a bunch of problems with my ring. We had it custom made. The first time we picked it up, they hadn't rhodium plated it so it was spotty and not shiney at all, oh and the setting was crooked. We took it back and pointed out the flaws. They said it would do more damage than benefit to fix the crooked setting so we told them to leave it. Well, my husband picked it up, all nice and shiney, put it in his pocket and off to WDW we go. He carried the ring around in his pocket all day and proposed at MK right after wishes, I wore my ring around the park all night. When we got back to the hotel, i take a good look at it in the light and notice that they had filed down the claws to make the setting look less crooked. 1 claw was not touching the stone at all, there was daylight between the claw and the diamond! The other 3 claws were barely hanging on. Near disaster!!! I was kind of bummed cause I didn't get to wear my ring for the rest of the trip. So, when we get back, we go back to the jewellery store and they completely reset the ring. When we go back to pick up the ring, there's a huge scratch on it! They buff it out and give it back to me. The first weekend I actually get to wear my ring, a big chunk of the rhodium plating comes off. Turns out there weas a major impurity in the gold that went right through, they had to re-shank the ring. So, yeah, I've had some problems, it's just an object though. Sure it sucks to be without it for a few days, especially when it's new and you want to show it off, you'll get it back soon though. Good luck with the jewellers. Make sure you get your rings appraised and insured though, it's worth it for the piece of mind.

My friend had a similar problem with her wedding ring, which had three rows of paved diamonds in it. During her reception, she lost three. She lost a few more before the brunch the next morning. Needless to say, she wasn't happy especially since there wasn't enough time to get it fixed before they left for their Disneymoon. The problems were based on the fact that the ring had a bad design and not enough metal to keep the diamonds in. Last I heard she was thinking of returning it for another one.

When you pick it up next week, just take a peek at your other diamonds to make sure they're all secure too.

Talk about disappointing - I was without it for almost 2 months!! and thats the time in your life when you want to blind everyone with it!!!!!

My daughter noticed at the altar that one of the small emeralds was missing from her wedding band! The best man found it in the pocket of his tux!
