bummed- autotrader warning

If anyone ever plans to sell or if you are, please be aware that there is scam artist out there trying to buy cars with bad checks.
really bummed cause i was hoping for this $$ for teh disney trip- well i guess there are other HONEST buyers.


happy new year....my first day of 2004 is not looking promising but i am glad we cauight the scammer before we got screwed.

Several months ago we sold a car on eBay. Prior to turning over the keys and title, we went to my bank where they (1) looked up the main phone number of his bank on the Internet, (2) called that number, (3) was transferred to the correct branch, and (4) verified that the money orders were legitimately issued in the amounts shown and were valid.

He was aware prior to his coming to get the car that I was going to verify the payment, and agreed that it was a very reasonable thing to do. Also, he did examine the car to make sure it was as advertised before we went to my bank.

It was both sides taking precautions not to be burned, and any legitimate buyer or seller should be willing to take these precautions.
