I'm bummed about an Etsy order I placed in early August (8/11). The seller had really cute crocheted hats for $10. She had good feedback, nothing seemed funny, I even had a question and she answered promptly. Fast forward, I went to check on the order... her shop was closed. Feedback was now 75%. Ugh. I don't think I'm getting my hats. OK, I'm bummed about the hats, but I spent $35. I emailed her, asked if I was still getting my order, she said yes. I wrote back, asking if there's a rough guesstimate as to when... no response. I asked again today... no response. I filed a report with Etsy, but I haven't heard back yet. It's been 36 days, and I have until 45 days to file with PayPal. I just don't want to lose out on my money! I have a horrible feeling that the seller is going to wait it out until the 45 days is up and then stiff me. :scared1: (I remember this tactic from ebay.)

I'm really bummed, I love etsy, and the etsy sellers I've dealt with have been awesome.

How do I handle this?

I'm sorry; I hope you get either the hats or the money.

I'm suddenly in an impossible situation with ebay/paypal, because they have a glitch when you change your address on both sites while you're doing the order process...it says it changed the shipping address, but it sends out the OLD address. But now everything matches, and ebay/paypal is pretending like the seller got the old address from nowhere. :headache:

It's not the seller's fault...she got the things in the mail the SAME day and shipped to the address she was given by paypal.

It's not my fault...I changed the addresses BEFORE I placed the order.

But one of us is going to end up hurting, and it's going to be me because I just can't do that to the seller.

My situation is $40, so very similar. I hope the people at my old apartment decide to give me my items this time (as opposed to a year ago when they REFUSED to give an amazon 1-click order to us) so that neither of us is out any money, but I doubt it.... Hope you get resolution!

That's what I'm thinking. It just seems too shady. I wonder what happened, she had over 400 sales and great feedback. :confused3

Sometimes, people run into a rough patch in life and it affects their business, and they aren't able to figure out how to make both work successfully.

The Seller may have really wanted to get all her hats out, is still hoping to. But, realistically is not able to and cannot admit she's now over her head.

File with PayPal, as her business is closed on etsy. You can always email her, and tell her if she does go back into business again, through a legitimate outfit, like through a private eBay auction, using PayPal, so your purchase is covered again if something goes wrong, you'd be happy to do business with her.

definitely file with paypal before the 45 days is up!

I love etsy! and I wouldnt let this one problem keep you from such a great site!

I filed with etsy and PayPal. I hope I get my money back, or my hats as promised (wishful thinking.)

Wish me luck!
