Hi,

I'll spend 5 days with wife and children (5-10) at OKW and I would like to know which building I should request. My needs are :

- near a pool
- near a bus stop
- not too far away from the main building.

What would you suggest ?

Thanks in advance

Put in a request for buildings 62 - 64 and also building 23. Just like that - hopefully you'll get one of those 4 choices. Those are great buildings (esp. 62 - 64 since they have elevators). They are all right by the hospitality house and the main pool and the boat marina etc., and right by the main bus stop at the front.

I see this is for your upcoming July trip - When was your ressie made? Usually the sooner your ressie is made the better chance you stand at getting your requests honored. And you are going to be there in the middle of summer (very high season) - Also, I'd fax your requests to the resort about 4 - 5 days prior to your arrival and even place a call perhaps. I'm one who really wants what I request (within reason) and I'll go to great lengths to see that those requests are honored (like faxing or calling). Most people will say that if your requests are noted on your confirmation that's all you have to do, well I like to take other steps to increase my chances. Of course don't forget the ever popular disclaimer that these are "requests" and not "guarantees" but usually they are very accommodating.

You'll be at the ASMovies right ahead of OKW huh? You won't BELIEVE the difference in the two resorts!!! WOW what a huge difference. You'll think that the ASMovies is nice - but just crawling with tons of people and OKW is very spacious and relaxed!!

Good luck to your family! :)

We like Buildings 23, 24, or 26 (25 is smoking). This is the Pennisular area and the bus stop is right there by building 26. It is a short walk to the main pool and HH. We really like this area because it is the first bus stop so we always get a seat in the morning and get dropped off first when going back to the room. You should make your request when you make your reservation. If you have already made the reservation then call MS back and add it to the reservation. We have never faxed the hotel directly but you could give it a try.

We like to stay on Old Turtle Pond road. Buildings 40-44 or even 36-39. You can catch any bus to the front, close to a pool and bus stop , and most of the veiws have ponds in them.

If you are a DVC member or renting points from a member, you should make your requests at the time of reservation. According to things I've read and been told by MS, requests from DVC members are filled based on the date of the request. I personally don't think faxing helps, but some people do. We did it one time, but as long as your requests are on your reservation, they already have them. A fax is just one more piece of paper for them to keep track of.
Also, I'd suggest you put your requests the way you wrote them:
- near a pool
- near a bus stop
- not too far away from the main building.

And then if you want, put the building numbers you prefer.
I've heard of lots of times when people requested a building number or two and when it wasn't available, the room assigner didn't know WHY you requested it. Was it because it had a nice pond view, or close to a bus stop or did you want it because it was by a quiet pool. The more constraints you have on your request, the smaller the number of rooms that fit what you are asking for.

Thanks to everyone for the great help !!!!

I don't know if I will be able to make a request this time since I just got these 5 nights renting points from a DVC member, but I will maybe try the fax a few days in advance or call directly from the All-Star Movies which I'll be in a few days before.
