My parents taught me nothing about credit and kept me in the dark financially. It took me years to dig out of the hole I had dug for myself and it was my boyfriend at the time that helped me do so - not my parents. I do not think it is beneficial to keep your kids in the dark about money and what to do with it and how to budget it. My daughter is getting ready to get a job. Her first job. We have already told her that 30% of it will go into a savings account and the rest she can keep to do with whatever she likes. If I can help her and teach her at this young age how to do things in a financially responsible way why not!
