Does the downtown disney build a bear have unique disney costumes? If so what is the price range. My 4 year old loves sleeping with lovies as she calls them so I thought this might be a fun souvenir/experience for her. Our trip is in 3 weeks!! ty

They used to carry some costumes that were only available at the DTD BaB (e.g., Stitch), but I think more and more of the costumes are now for sale at all of the BaB shops (e.g., the Villians and Princess costumes). They do have a Mickey ear outfit that is unique to DTD, as well as a DTD bear. The costs are in line with the prices at the BaB stores in the mall.

There are often coupons available for BaB at the local area hotels. I've seen them in the racks of ads/coupons in the lobby of the BWPPI and other area hotels. So, it's usually worth it check those out before heading to BaB.

There are special Disney clothes for the bears. As for the price, sorry can't help you there. My daughter decided to get a Fluttershy instead and the clothes don't fit the ponies.

When we were there in February we saw a ton of Disney clothes that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Can't remember prices well, but I think if you budget $20, you'll be fine.

And don't forget to go upstairs! We didn't even notice that there was a second floor. When we walked by a couple of days later we saw the upstairs from outside and went back in to look around. Lots of stuff up there!!!

If you are wanting to know the price for the bear and all it is def more than $20 different bears are different prices and different clothes are different prices, we did a BaB locally and I want to say it was about $40 ish for the bear(ours was actually a dinosaur) and an outfit and that was without shoes just shirt and shorts

Just the DTD bear, and a tshirt/shorts set w/ mouse ears is exclusive to that location.

Thank you for the responses this board has been so helpful in planning :)

We were just there a few weeks ago, I didn't check the price of the bear.

The Disneyland T-shirt and mouse ears (which light up) are $18. There are no pants included. ;) They have mickey or minnie.

You can get a $5 off $25 purchase coupon from the GCH - there is a rack of brochures across from the check-in desk and it is located in there.

If you are a member of their "Stuff fur Stuff" program you can use any of the coupons they email you or the $10 rewards coupons as long as they haven't expired.

The BAB site has Disney costumes so you could always get it before hand, or get the exclusive outfit there and then get the other outfits later.

The disney exclusive bear is $25 (maybe $30). But it was the only thing my son wanted (funny he found lots more the rest of the week). $18 for the Disneyland shirt and Mickey ears.

Son is snuggling with "Disneyland" right now.and the upstairs is where they bring parties so it can get VERY loud.

I was just there on Saturday - My daughter got the special DTD exclusive Minnie Mouse bear, a blue princess dress, shoes, and a dinosaur for my son and the total was just under $70. I believe the dress and shoes were about $20.

And about the "don't forget the second floor" comment - the second floor is identical to the first floor. Same merchandise, just usually less crowded. We always go upstairs to get away from the crowd.

I'd grab a couple of the $5/$25 coupons, and ask the staff to help you arrange the transactions. If they are offering the $10 gift card for $5 deal, then in Trans. #1 you buy $25 of stuff, plus a $10 gc for $5, less the $5 coupon = $25. In Trans #2 you buy $25 of stuff, less the $5 coupon, and use the $10 gift card toward payment = $10. Total = $35 for $50 value.
This seems like a crazy amt of $ for a stuffed animal but unless you are able to steer your DD toward the least expensive bears (they usually have a couple that are only $10 or so) and the least expensive clothes, and talk her out of the smell/sound, be prepared to maximize discounts!
As I recall you can also use your AP for 10% off, but I'm not 100% sure I was able to use coupons along with the discount; you could always call ahead to ask.
ETA: Whenever we have been there, there were very different items on the second floor than on the first. Probably some of the same bears/animals, but upstairs they have the less expensive/outdated bears, and there were definitely different outfits/accessories. As DD loves to spend hours at that store, trust me, I tried to talk her out of upstairs telling her it was the same, but a staff member corrected me and indeed I was wrong.

I agree w/ Alice on splitting transactions if you can. When I was there they did allow me to combine the $5 off $25 from the GCH, a $5 off birthday reward and a $10 Stuff fur Stuff reward. But it is very busy in there and can get kind of crazy.

Definitely join the "frequent buyers club", it is free and you do get coupons throughout the year. $5 off for your birthday, $5 off when the "bear" turns 1 (make sure you put in your email when you do the certificate). It's worth registering at home if you aren't going for a while and see what you might get around your trip. For some reason we get a $5 off for my birthday month and my daughters, I must have registered both dates?

thank you so much for the coupon and splitting transaction idea!! it is a lot for a stuffed animal. however i know her and i know it will be cherished more than any other item she could get. even if its a princess dress you can buy at any build a bear she will know it was from disney pixiedust:

If you're staying at the GCH make sure to call ahead and reserve the private opening. You get to go to the Build-A-Bear shop an hour before it opens- escorted by a CM- and your kids get the shop privately for that whole hour.

We're going it May 25th at 9am!! My DD is so excited :cheer2:

We are staying at the hojo. That sounds like it would be awesome though. We will be there the week the 26th - 30th so excited :)
