Bugs!

It looks alot like the bugs I saw, another image of the infestation that was similar to the BLT:

Ew. Those are not midges. I don't know WHAT those are. I never see bugs in the snow. None of the bugs can live when it is that cold out...though they all come back every Spring.

Those bugs are big and gross.

Yuck.

Hope they go away soon!

A few weeks ago, we had an enormous amount of rain. The rain sat in ditches and other areas. These are perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes and midges. Now, they are hatching.

Not long ago, the were doing extra spraying all across Osceola county due to the mosquitoes and midge outbreak. Fortunately, they won't last long.

we have had ALOT of rain..more than we have in the last 2 years..that usually bumps the bug population up

Those look like blind mosquitoes. They've been thick around my house as well. I had a terrible time on Halloween. Every time I opened my front door, a bunch would fly in.

Although that is horrible and I do feel badly for you...I kind of have to laugh at their timing - swarms of bugs invading on Halloween. :) If you'd listened closely enough, you might have heard them singing, "A boo to you." ;)

We get midges every year around here. It's just a few weeks, but it seems longer. They come, they get bad, they get worse, they follow you into the car (since their covering it outside, anyway, might as well try to cover the inside, too) and you begin cursing and telling people, "God, I hate midges!" and they say, "Ugh. Me, too." ...And then they go away. :)

Hope they're all gone soon!

Does it seem odd to you that they are called blind mosquitoes? My exterminator told me they are attracted to white. My front porch and front door are white. I can't help wondering how they know its white if they are blind. Inquiring minds want to know!

We encountered an entire swarm on our boat ride from WL to the CR 2 weeks ago. There were so many of them they entirely covered both benches at the front of the boat. The boat captain said they were non-biting mosquitos. It was nutty..but we just covered our heads with our sweatshirts and were fine..:lmao:

Ok here is the picture I took with my phone:

Imagine these all over the walls and ceiling just inside the BLT from the walkway to the Contemporary. I imagine the same goes for alot of other places.

UGH, it makes me itch just looking at this picture.. not to mention waiting for the elevator.

The Grand Floridian has a similar issue ... Although not as bad ... We walked down to Narcoossee's steakhouse last night and saw quite a few on the walls by the restaurant's entrance

I sure hope they all fly away in the next 29 days before we arrive. I hate bugs....

You all do realize that Disney World was built on Swamp land which means that there will be more bugs. Fall is bad time for bugs and unfortunately there is not way around it. Especially when there is more rain..there is more bugs.

Totally agree. Disney World is part of a nature preserve and if a bug infestation happens that does not harm humans, it's just going to happen. These bugs are not doing anything out of the ordinary. It's us humans that have defined what *we* think is acceptable. Bugs don't know nor care about what we think. So we see a bunch of bugs. Big deal. Whether you realize it or not, you are surrounded by bugs every single day of your life. Yes, even in your own home no matter what you pay an exterminator. Bugs exist, bugs live, bugs thrive.

I guess some people on this thread have never been to see It's Tough to Be a Bug at Animal Kingdom.

:::shudder:::

I realize bugs are bugs and will live where they will live but I don't have to like it!
