Our last night at Por Orleans Riverside..and itch, itch itch. We are both so bitten up, we itch all night. We've talked to several people at the concerts, in the parks, and they are bitten up too. Bring the bug spray! We go several times a year, and this is a first for us!

There sure have been alot of people reporting this! I hope that everyone is letting Disney know how bad it is from the guest perspective.

I have never had too much problem with bugs at WDW. I hope that they are not cutting back on the tactics that they use to keep WDW "bug free".

We also just got back from POR, and yes it was buggy. But you have to remember, THIS IS FLORIDA, Florida has bugs and lots of them. This does seems like a worst than normal year for bugs.

I know Disney is spraying, you can see the residue on the grass and bushes.

Just make sure you beware of the deer flies, they look like small bees. And believe me they sting like bees. There were lots of them, not only at POR but all over.

The love bugs don't sting, just annoy you by landing on you.

Good luck and do bring bug spray. Remember to put it on during the day and evening. The bugs seemed more plentiful at dawn and especially dusk. And don't leave your door to the resort rooms opened long, the bugs will get in.

Have great magical trips. I wanna go back. :D

A CM once told us that the bug control was "all natural" -- no spray.:scratchin
We found that a little hard to believe, but always thought they really did a good job keeping down the bugs in central florida one way or the other.

I'd love to know exactly what it is they do.

I wonder if they will be bad in mid summer?

I remember the discussion of rats at Animal Kingdom several years ago. I looked for rats that year and never saw any.

Yes, the bugs were bad. We just got back from POR on Saturday. My poor 9 y/o ds has bites all over his legs. The rest of us have them but not as bad as him. I didn't prepare for bugs and didn't have bug spray. We've gone in June and Oct. before and have never had a bug problem. Now I know better!!

we just got back on monday and there were more bugs than i have ever seen there and this is the first trip that we all got bit. But we did not use bug spray and nver needed to before but from now on i think i will bring it ...

and I must say that was one of the things that amazed me! No bug bites! There were love bugs but as far as mosquitos and stinging things we had very little contact with them.

I just thought it was part of the magic and is one of the things I really liked about WDW!lol

We go every year and bug bites have never been a problem at WDW and we are out at all times of the day.

Thanks for the warning and I hope it is not too bad when we visit.

Honestly, I don't think it's just Florida. They seem to be just plain worse this year, even here in CT. I just got bitten up the other night more than I have in years. Sometimes I think all the West Nile precautions they've tried to take the last few years have only made the bugs more resistant

And what about those cicadas ! I just tried to take a nap out on the porch and it sounded like my neighbors security alarm was going off. I gave up and came inside. This is suppose to go on for 6 weeks. That's half of the summer!

We stayed at WL 5/7 thru 5/10 and didn't get any bug bites for the three of us at all. We saw love bugs everywhere, but none of us were bitten by anything.

I'm surprised to hear so many have had problems with recent stays. That sure wasn't our experience and we used no bug spray at all.

A lot of people use Avon's Skin-so-Soft as a bug repellant. It doesn't contain any toxins, but it works. Here in Florida, people who fresh water fish use it all the time. It's worth a try if anyone has a problem putting bug spray on little ones.

We just returned May 15 and, like tlady suffered no bites. The lovebugs surely were out, but didn't see much in the way of mosquitos, no-see-ums, etc. Maybe the different landscaping at various resorts affects the density of the bug population.

This was my 4th May trip and the first time I've ever returned with over a dozen bites as a souvenier. It was BAD at Ft. Wilderness!!! I reacted to something (spider most likely) on my ankle and had to visit first aid as my entire foot had swollen and was burning. We used bug spray, and luckily my kids were spared. guess it's because I was luring them over my way!

Seems like most of the bug problem reports are from those staying at POR!
Things that make yo go hummmmmmm.

hey if Disney does not spray be thankful! :) Bugs have such short generations that they would very quickly become immune to whatever sparys are currently out there, and we would all be getting exposed to those lovely chemicals on vacation. Yes in small amounts but still it would be there!

I have to admit though I think some people are sweeter then others! Ive never had bug bites down at Disney World except the occasional mosquito bite and have been down in Florida a lot and at Disney on site 11 times.

I got bit up one night on our porch at OKW sitting out watching the fireworks from Illuminations. The sad part is we really couldn't even see them that well, there were trees blocking it.
