We are heading to WDW next Tuesday! Do we need to worry about bugs/mosquitoes this time of year down there? Should we bring/buy bug spray down there?

Thanks!

I'm in Tampa now and they aren't too crazy...just yet! I would pack some, just in case...and then you're prepared!

We'll be there this upcoming week, too....CAN'T WAIT!

We were there last week and bugs weren't bad...however, it was cooler, so you'll probably be on the safe side if you brought some spray along!

i guess no one told you the state bird for florida is the mosquito!! hee hee.. id bring some anyways we live here and myself and smallest child get bit by anything that flies , crawls, walks etc .. id bring some anyways better then getting bit up.. have a fun trip !

It's a week or two early yet for those pesky lovebugs......usually early May they start showing up for a few weeks.......don't bite, but, are very annoying.......they love light colored clothing.......and they are all over the lounge chairs by the pools. Ugggh.............

I appreciate the advice!!!

We were there last year in May, 24-30 and not one bite. Loooots of love bugs, but they don't bite, they just pester the snot out of you at times, usually it was at it's worst in the sun or in the mornings. If the wind picks up your doing good, but they aren't so bad your time there is ruined.

Had to respond-

Last May, we were there, staying in POFQ and I got bitten by two bugs- I am supposing they were the same types. I saw one of them when it landed on me- kind of a black-ish red-ish color. Weird. Anyway, before I had a chance to swat it, it bit. Oh my gosh.

It hurt so dang bad. kind of like I was hit on the leg with a baseball bat! It wasn't any kind of insect I had ever seen before. I am originally from SC, so I am familiar with all kinds of bugs, but this took the cake. It definitely wasn't a wasp, hornet, bee, or mosquito.

For two weeks, the lump was there on my leg- with a hole in the middle- and itched like fire.

Don't know if they would be kept away by bug spray or not, but I really hope I don't see any more on our upcoming trip!

If you're going to see Fantasmic, make sure to stay a few rows back. The gnats were terrible there this past week in the first 5 or 6 rows.

I was at the Animal Kingdom Tuesday for the 10th anniversary. Got bitten by two I think mosquitoes. This was early evening. The swelling and itching is starting to go down today :rotfl2:

Moved here about 10 months ago and this is the first bug incident ever.

Well, except for the very small scorpion that ran out of something in the kitchen of our new apartment the night we moved in. Have never seen another:thumbsup2
