We just got back from 4 days at Hunting Island State park in SC and i would be happiest to never see another bug. I was really hoping that there wouldn't be many bugs in November at the Fort, but am having misgivings.

Anyone who has been there then who can tell me what to expect?

We've been to the Fort at Thanksgiving several times and we have never had any problems with bugs. Maybe an occassional mosquito bite but that is nothing new to us since we are from south Louisiana.

Bugs are normally gone around then in Florida.

We were there Nov 1-20 last year. A coupla mosquitos buzzing around at dusk, but that's about it. :)

We go in November no bugs. But I have seen peopling buzzing.

We were there the same period last year and as everybody says, no bugs. I saw them come around our loop several times and spray the ground and also they have a truck that drives around and sprays for mosquitos.

They spray pesticides like crazy, so no bugs.

The bugs leave Florida bout Oct,,they go to the deep tropics for the winter.

There are no bugs in Florida only a mouse and alligators! I live in the North Florida area and we use a product called a ThermaCell to keep the biting bugs away. It runs on butane and scent pads and will form a 15-20 foot barrier around the area depending in wind and such. We too will be there in November and the ThermaCells will be burning!

I like to use the electrified, battery powered ,"Badminton Bug Racquet",,:thumbsup2

You mean the one "as seen on TV" Frank? BTW, don't bugs attract fish??

Nice to "see" you guys. Have any Fort trips planned? We'd love to spend some time other then passing.

72 days and counting Denise. We have a two week trip planned for Dec 5th this year. It will be our first 2 week trip to the fort, and our first ever in December. One week just goes by too fast! Hopefully no bugs then either. How about you and Frank? Have you planned a trip this year? We have already booked our 2011 trip for November. Hope to see you guys again sometime.
