Bugs and the Marina :

Wondering if you stay close to the marina in a campsite if you have alot more bugs flying around than in a farther campsite away from the marina ?

There are canals that run throughout FW..so just being in proximity to the marina wouldn't mean more bugs than elsewhere. At least I don't think so. I don't believe any of the loops exactly back up to the marina..as some do to the canals.

I have never notice any increase of bugs near the lake. We did seem to have a little more trouble when we were in 400 loop and a canal was right behind us. But then it is Florida, it was summer, and what can you expect!!

We went camping at the lake last year and I swear everytime we opened our tt door we had a zillion mosquitos coming in , it was like something out of a horror movie, and whenever my dh went to the camping store for more bugs spray a lady one loop over from us said she hasn't even seen so much as a fly ..go figure. Well the fort called me today and said they were going to try and place us over by the marina so my dd that is disabled and has a breathing machine on her chair might be able to take the boat over , I don't like to ride the buses because of having to catch two of them ( not so easy if your in a wheelchair, very time consuming ). Anyways whenever I made my reservations I never spoke about my dd being disabled, I guess they must keep an ongoing record, last time we went my dd was sick our whole stay and the staff was very nice to us, she had to stay in the hospital three days while we were there and they sent her over a mickey hat and balloons ( that is beyond nice since they didn't know us from Adam ). They even offered us two rooms at the movie resort for the price of one ,but we are traveling with our dog this time around, so that was nice but not going to happen. Anyho...that's why I was worried about the marina, we have never been at the fort and I don't feel like fighting off the extra mosquitos ...hehe

I know in the past during the height of mosquito season, FW ran a fogger truck through the campground. I don't think you will have that much trouble.
