Bugs and mosquitoes?

I spent a week in San Diego and Anaheim in May and I didn't get a single bite or notice any mosquitos. I usually get eaten alive (also from NJ).

I've never experienced any bug problems at the parks and I go every other week and have stayed at Grand California and other off site hotels.

I, too, am a mosquito magnet and last year I did get two bites while watching WOC. I know that the only 2 mosquitos in Anaheim found me, but just wanted to let you know that they are out there.

Yes, there are no mosquito problems at Disneyland. That's not to say you won't maybe see one or two, but it's not like Florida where it's a prime location for them to breed. There are worries about Zika and WDW, but I believe at DLR that it is really a non-issue.

Leave the bug spray at home. Southern California, for the most part, is a desert.

Oh, I don't know that just because in a desert to worry less about mosquitoes. I live in the Phoenix area, and here they can be bad at times. Most likely it is due to people not taken care of standing/stagnate water, or a pool not properly taken cared of. It only takes about 72 hours of there being standing water to a whole mess of mosquitoes. So anytime do get some rain, people should be checking for any standing water and take care of it.

I think with Disneyland, Disney does a great job of taking care of standing/stagnate water (as others have also pointed out). Make the conditions bad for them as much as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if they did other methods as well (fogging/sprays/fish).

I've lived in southern California a long time and I cannot remember when or even if I've ever been bitten by a mosquito here. I don't know a thing about Phoenix, but in socal, mosquitos are not an issue.

The only time I've experienced bug bites at DL was last summer. We were sitting on the patio of Jolly Holiday during Paint the Night and I was right next to the bushes and ended up with a lot of little tiny bites on my legs. Mosquito bites usually swell and itch like crazy for me and these were just mildly itchy and didn't swell, so I don't think they were mosquitoes. So I'd recommend not sitting right next to the bushes at night.
