That sounds right. You do have a lot of daily spending that I bet you could cut back on if you had to ($100 per day). Our upcoming Thanksgiving trip is going to run us around $4000.00. We are a family of 4 staying five nights. Two children (age 7 and 9). We didn't get a good deal on airfare. Husband booked before I had a chance to think and really shop around. I think we're spending $1600 + on the plane ride, and I hate airplanes ;) Seems like you did your math homework in school. I think you're right on :thumbsup2

i'm hoping i can get airfare cheaper than that but God knows what gas will be like in a year from now...i hope Southwest has their $59 sale then...yeah i budgeted the $100 cuz i'm sure we"ll have tips to pay for and unnessary crap......and its my son's first time so he may get a little spoiled...

$250 for airfare is good, if you can get it. We use miles - I save them up just for my DVC week. I also do that for ariport parking at newark. I bring things like pancacke mix, where you just add water in the jug and you have breakfast for 3-4 people. Eat in the room in the morning - don't do DDP, unless you're going to eat a ton. The studies show, and I proved it last year - it's not even close depending on the people. My 11 year old eats far less than what you would pay for in DDP. Go Mousesavers/UT for tickets. And finally you're adding a lot with pirates league and MNSSHP. For the former...if you did it before, do you still need to do it again? Just asking.

Dining costs scare us - that is why we bought DVC - we rent a car for 24 hours, usually around $40, go to the Walmart supercenter and get groceries (including beer, pop, water and snacks) for around $220 for 2 weeks, and just relax at our villa whenever we choose to take time to eat - no waiting for our orders, no loud noise around us, no tipping! Saves $$$$ every trip. Although we do always visit the Whispering Canyon once, usually for lunch, so add $85, we're still saving tons!
Smart doing a budget though - have a great trip!

not as much for me, different circumatnces I quess

just boooked the flights this morning 964.00 for 4 adults

we eat one meal per day in the parks says 125.00 X 4 = 500

park tickets says 1100.00

maybe 500.00 in spending money, we are at the point we really don't get souveniors anymore

total 3064.00, give or take

Keep watching your flight price. If it drops for the flight you are on, you can usually get a refund. Unless you're flying SW, then you have to fly with them again to use the money in your 'account'...

You might save some on the dining plan if you only do it for a few days for those places you really want to eat and where it will save you money. We are doing the deluxe plan for one night only on two separate trips. The meals planned are: Kona first night, Chef Mickey for breakfast , Coral Reef for dinner second night. Snacks as we feel the need for the two days. We will then eat Breakfast in the room , and do counter service depending on where we are and what we are doing. May even cook a meal or two in the villa. The second trip we are doing the deluxe plan again on the first day of the second resort and the meals are Princess lunch at Norway, dinner at the new Mexican restaurant and the second night one group goes to Boma and the other to Raglan Road.

We did the dining plan for a couple of trips and it was way too much food and a pain in the neck trying to coordinate parks and where we were eating. The last trip I kept the receipts from our meals and it was much cheaper than the DDP would have been - even the counter service one since we don't normally eat dessert and I have started asking for a cup of water instead of some other beverage which is free.

Good luck with your trip and have a great time.

Thanks for sharing these numbers... wow, thank goodness you don't have to figure a hotel room into that equation! I know as DVC Members we "pay" for it one way or another but it makes it a bit easier to swallow knowing we don't have to factor in several more thousands for the room! :scared1:

Hope your son has a great first visit! How exciting!

yeah well i wish Disney would let the DVC's have free dinning....you know we pay every month were as others may go only once or twice in a ten year span...were i can go for 50 years...so there for i am spending a whole lot more than just your average family...so not fair....i hate having to go back to the room to eat...i like to be at a park all day...i'm sure now that i have a family it may be different but i've been like 10 times so far and have done the dinning plan a few times...i guess its good if you wanna do character meals. and now i have kids that have never been and the character meals are great...i guess i could go thru the menus and see how much it will be with just a couple of character meals...the moral of the story is I WANT FREE DINNING just once....

But also remember that those that get free dining are paying full rack rate for their room. With your DVC purchase, you are not so in the long run, your deal will be much better than free dining.

Plus, you do have the option to get it--just don't use your DVC for a trip or rent points and pay cash. I am sure you would find that the free dining promo isn't all you think it is.

In terms of your spending, remember, they are now allowing DVC to segment trips and you can do the dining plan a bit different. We are doing the DxDDP for just one night of our upcoming trip. Because we could do that, it works out great. Basically, we are paying $78.99 for one meal at CRT, one meal at 1900 Park Fare, 2 snacks, and getting the mug. Those meals, OOP, would be $83 alone! So, its like getting the snack and mug for free.

Its a way to do the dining plan in such a way that it makes it worth while for you.

Good luck!

A little OT here, but you must have a really cool story -- being single for long enough to get a DVC membership then marrying someone to become an instant mom - sounds both  and :scared1: all at the same time!

I do hope the new kiddos enjoy WDW as much as you do.

Your numbers seem right to me! I have NEVER written ours down like that, but seeing yours makes me realize that we spend a lot of money every time we go to WDW :scared1:.

Airfare is our biggest expense. The most we paid for airfare was $600 x 4 = $2400 and the least was this year, coming up $377 x 4 =$1508.

For our tickets, I figure $50/day x 4 x 5 = $1000
For our groceries, I spend about $300 and have them delivered
DVC villa bill is usually $100/day x 6 = $600
Airport transportation RT home to airport $300

Total $3708 for November 2011. If I included DVC dues of 254 pts x est. $5.8, I get $1473.20 for the villa for 6 nights. Then I am at $5181.20.

:scared1:Probably the reason why I don't usually itemize our trips....

It looks good to me! And like others have said, you might consider splitting the DDP to save on money. We're staying 9 nights, and I originally thought we'd do the DDP the whole stay... but then I remembered how much food that really is. So I decided to split it (we're already splitting our resort stay, so it made it easy). We're still going to a few TS and Character Meals that we'll play OOP, but we're saving money. Here's our budget for you to compare.

We have 2 adults and 1 child. We're staying in Orlando 13 nights... off site hotel the first night, 9 nights BLT & BCV, and 3 nights off-site (timeshare presentation freebie stay) and going to Universal for one day. We're renting a car the first day and last three days.

Airfare ................................. $750
Off-site hotel ........................ $60
Rental Car ........................... $200
Disney Park Tickets (8-day) ..... $835.36
MNSSHP ............................... $153.21
DDP + tips (4 nights) ...............$375
Disney Food OOP + tips ........... $235
Photopass CD ........................ $100
Universal Tickets..................... $244.85
Misc. Cash, Food .................... $500

TOTAL = $3219.34 ($82.55 pp/day)

We have $750 in Disney Rewards, so we're anticipating spending $2500 for the two week trip.

Your numbers look good to me and you covered all the major categories of spending.

We bought Annual Passes last Christmas and we are planning on taking another trip this Thanksgiving so we don't have tickets in our equation. What we have is $400. pp airfare from Houston to Orlando for 5 so I'm trying to cut corners where we can.

We're planning on renting a car once we're at WDW for one day to buy groceries for breakfast and supper most nights. We are only doing a couple of sit-down meals and they are buffets so I am choosing to eat at those places earlier in the day so the prices will be lower. We also plan to eat some QS meals in the parks during the day so we won't have to come back to our room to eat until supper.
