Hey all! Getting closer to the big day!!! We're staying at POFQ 3/12-3/17 and hoping for a river view room.

Should we bring bug spray?? Mosquitos LOVE me (my dad told me it was becuz I was so sweet.....) and I'm worried about being miserable with multiple bites (my personal record is 14 at one time on legs, arms, and face....not fun!!)

Thanks!

Summer is really our worst time for mosquitos in FL. But it sounds like you are sensitive to them so I would go ahead and bring the repellant even though they are not that bad in March.

I agree, my Grandma was very sensitive to mosquito bites. It's better to bring the repellent and not need it, than to not have it and be eaten alive. You never know if it will be a warm/wet spring. Though Disney does seem to control the mosquito population pretty well.

We stayed at POFQ March 1-8, 2003. We never saw/felt any mosquitos, I don't remember noticing ANY bugs actually. But I agree with the others, bring it just in case.

Id' made a similar post last week. When we've been at WDW in Jan., Feb, and May, we never saw a mosquito. This year, we'll be going the first week of Oct. and I'm wondering if we'll be as lucky! (DS8 and I are the preferred mosquito meals!)

I went there in October of 2004 and stayed at POR...at night the mosquitos were awful. I would get bit just walking from the main building to our room at night. Also, I got bit while sitting at the pool. ::MickeyMo

We have commented on the strangely low bug population in the past. Maybe someone knows if the resorts use some sort of control?

Disney does regularly spray for bugs. However, because the woods are thier natural habitat, there's just no way to get rid of them all. Personal bug spray might be a good idea.

And we were thinking of having a split-stay between WL and POR! Would those be the 2 worst resorts for feasting moquitos? :earseek:

We stayed @ POFQ last April and I was eaten alive at night. My son would want to swim at night and my husband and I would sit by the pool. Well I was so bitten up, I couldn't believe how many bites I received. So yes, please tell him to take the spray just in case!!!

Not being from Florida, I wasn't prepared for a particular bug that I encountered at POFQ whilst I was coming out of an elevator. It was about 2 inches long and it looked like some kind of a beetle but with retractable wings.
It was just sitting on the ground. This thing was so big it needed dog tags. This was definitely a bug that you wouldn't want to step on with bare feet.

Also, I noticed that the elevators at POFQ really smelled of Raid. Other than that, not a lot of bug experiences at WDW at all.

I don't think it will matter what resort your at - just make sure to bring the spray and use it! ;)
