We have resies for VB last week Aug. After reading reports and comments regarding those little flying critters, I am starting to have second thoughts. Please add any comments and personal experiences. Thanks.:cool1:  :dance3:

We were at VB for a week in May, 2007. The love bugs were so bad that we couldn't even sit outside or by the pool. They even closed the pool at times to scoop them out. I've lived in FL for almost 20 years and never seen them this bad. The locals said this was the worst they'd seen them except one old timer that said "one other time was this bad". They come around again in the fall, not sure the usual dates for VB though.

The No seeums are similar to mosquito's only smaller, small enough to get through most screens. They are very pesky as well.

OH NO.....hope they stay away from OKW....we are going this Friday!!!!!!!!!

I am from vero- the bugs are no better or worse than Orlando. Flying ants landing in the pool are a common occurrence in Florida too- but they bite. Don't worry about it. The ocean breeze will protect you.

We were there for the day a week and a half ago, and they weren't bad at all...

Hope you aren't having second thoughts after reading my post last week. We were there 6/21-6/28 and we were really eaten up BUT we didn't have insect repellent. Take some and you will probably be fine. I would go back in a heartbeat so don't let this stop you. We had so much fun and will definately go back. We'll just take the repellent next time.

I think the whole east coast is one big bug fest this summer. It's been humid or raining everyday in CT. Just had my blood test for lyme disease. I'm amazed how many folks I know who've had it! But I wouldn't change my vacation plans either; just bring plenty of bug spray, and keep off the perfumey hair products, lotions, and deoderants.

The hurricanes will keep away all the bugs in late August. ;)

We live in the Northeast and went out to DQ for ice cream last night. We started to settle in at one of the picnic tables outside but the June bugs were so bad we had to run for the car (and still brought in several with us.) I guess someone forgot to tell them it was July.:lmao:

I'll take love bugs over June bugs any day.

We just came back from Vero Beach and the ONLY time we noticed we were getting some bites was in the evening after dark. We sat out a couple of evenings beside the pool and didn't have any problem but did feel some bites when we were down by the beach. We didn't wear bug spray. I had some with us and we didn't take it out of our suitcase. No worse than any summer night at home. I wouldn't be worried about it. It is a wonderful spot. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Those little boogers LOVE ME. We were there for 3 nights in June. I never got bit if I kept avon skin so soft bath oil on - which was nice for my skin after being in the sun, salt water and pool.

The morning we raced out of the room fast to catch the sunrise on the beach - and the 5 minutes I was out at dusk without it were the only times I was bitten - and man was I eaten alive.

Don't let the noseeums scare you away - just go prepared and don't do what I did - and not use the stuff.
