I have reservations for Boma, Crystal Palace (breakfast) and Biergarten. Now at home (we have Golden Corral and China buffets) ive never been fond of buffets and think they're not worth going to at all. I only go when im going with family who chooses to go there, never by my choice. Seems these are really popular but i know Golden Corral gets great reviews in orlando too.

Wondering if i should swap out a couple for other restaurants im wanting to try?

I would probably get rid of CP. We have all of those buffets booked plus a Chef Mickey and im thinking its too many buffets so decided to get rid of CP. I heard the other two are really really good (CP also good though).

The buffets at Disney are no comparison to Golden Corral :) I love love love buffets at Disney and hate hate hate them anywhere else!

CP for Breakfast is one of my favorites - the character interraction is great, and they have some really awesome choices on the buffet!

I would say this is true and not true. I found Cape May for breakfast to be very Golden Corral except it has WDW characters. Also, I experienced 1900 Park Fare last week for the first time and also found it to be very Golden Corral.

As for the exceptions, I will say Boma is very good for a buffet and nothing like a Golden Corral; and my favorite buffet in WDW is Biergarten, and is IMHO the best buffet in WDW and one of the best restaurants, buffet or not in WDW as well.

Ok so sounds like they are better than a Golden Corral. And we do have Chef Mickey but i didnt put that cause its not one i was going to drop.

Thats kind of how i felt too about having so many buffets but if the food is worth it then im all for it.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

We enjoy WDW breakfast buffets (we love CP), but do not care for the dinner buffets and try to avoid them.

IMHO, I'm not a huge buffet fan. However, I really enjoy the WDW buffets. There is always something for everyone and plenty of it. The atmosphere at Biergarten is such a blast! I really enjoy all that you have listed and wouldn't drop any of them.

Have fun!

we just did the CP breakfast buffet in May & really enjoyed it...great variety, excellent service & good food. And if you have a reservation before the park opens it's really nice to get in there & take a few pictures without a kazillion people in the frame. :thumbsup2

Boma we didn't love dinner at all, but many people do. Biergarten can be very fun (not just a buffet...has the German oompah band entertainment, too...like being at a German wedding, lol.)

The only buffet we've been to there that I would compare to Golden Corral is Hollywood & Vine/Hollywood Studios...actually, Golden Corral is better. And we actually like Golden Corral, not slamming them at all. Just feel that the food prep, variety and service at Disney buffets is generally better.

Like many people when we thought of Buffets we thought of Golden Corral.:scared1:
We now use Disney as slang with our family when eating at good buffet calling it a "Disney Buffet" meaning the standards are extremely high. So in short no the Disney Buffets are not gross. With the exception of Trails End. IMHO which is a glorified Golden Corral.

I would keep Boma and CP (CP is the best for breakfast). I would lose Biergarten-just not worth it in my opinion. Pick up an Epcot restaurant instead.

interesting - I have the exact opposite opinion. I enjoy Cape May, dinner and bfast, and I would not go back to Biergarten if it was free :rotfl:

I think you are absolutely wrong and need to have the same opinion as me, after all, I am always right. :rotfl2:

1) Disney buffets are better than GOlden Corral.
2) But, the food is still just above average.
3) You are paying for characters, not food.
4) No one could afford great food and all that labor cost.

After trying Cape May over our last vacation in July, I decided I just do not like dinner buffets anywhere, including Disney. I hate the lines and do not think the food compares to the other TS locations. BUT breakfast buffets I do enjoy. Boma is fantastic for breakfast. We have to eat there at least once each trip.

Another thing to consider is age. Children under 3 "eat off your plate" at buffets and are therefore free. At sit-downs they can still eat what you order, but if they want something different you need to pay OOP. We have a very picky 2 year old. The buffets just made sense for us, we are doing one every day: Ohana, Boma, Biergarten, Tusker House, CP, Chef Mickey's, H&V (kinda scared I admit), and Akershus.

Are you going with kids? I don't like Disney buffets as much as most people. There really is no monitoring of the food (kids + buffets =) and it's mediocre at best. You are paying for the character interaction at your table. So unless you like that atmosphere or you want your kids to get autographs and pictures, then I would go to other sit-down restaurants and get better meals imo.

I've never really liked buffets either, due to quality and santitation issues, but I think both Boma and Crystal Palace are fantastic. Never been to Beirgarten, so can't comment on that.

As you can tell...there are many different opinions. I lilke to go at least once so I can make up my own opinions. I say try them and they you will know for sure if you like them.

Have fun and Bon Appetit!

I haven't eaten CP, but I have eaten Chef Mickey's (aka, Ryan's with characters). Boma and Biergarten are much better because they are not your typical buffet fare. I could live off of the steak and mustard sauce at Boma.
