Chef Mickey; good food and a fun atmopshere

Boma for the exotic differently prepared foods and Trails End at Ft. Wilderness for the standard, good ole American food, decently prepared and reasonably priced. The breakfast at Trails End is our favorite, but lunch and dinner are good too.

Great settings for both also.

Exactly what I was going to say!! Boma is fantastic, and the Trail's End is our favorite for regular food at pretty reasonable prices!

Crystal Palace - lunch
O'Hana (served family style but similar to buffet as is all you can eat)
Libery Tree Tavern (served family style but similar to buffet as is all you can eat)
Chef Mickey's - breakfast
Cape May Cafe
Biergarten

I didn't care for Boma but go because dh likes it. I'm a picky eater and if you are a picky eater beware. The desserts are good but too many strange seasonings and spices for me. But the prime rib on Christmas night was good.

Boma! For the different foods and atmosphere. I'm a picky eater and still love it. If you don't like something, there are plenty of other things to eat. DH and I went with my mom there for the first time in Oct. She is not a fan of buffets at all and she loved it.

BOMA! We love Boma for Breakfast or Dinner, both buffets are so good! they have a great variety of different foods with great flavor. I have never left before asking for a recipe of something we just ate! It is unique, not your tipical buffet, but there is something for everyone, even your picky eater!

Boma for Breakfast - fresh & delicious food, love the frunch juice & made to order omelets! We're trying dinner there in addition to breakfast next trip.

Crystal Palace for Breakfast - hubby loves the breakfast lasagna, I love the puffed french toast & Tigger waffles - always a great & fresh selection & fun with the characters (this one has another great omelet station, too!)

Cape May Cafe - love it for breakfast or dinner! Huge variety of food - great desserts at dinner & it allows my hubby to eat some good seafood, while I eat the chicken & pasta. Breakfast is equally delicious with a great variety & Krispy Kreme donuts & Mickey waffles.

I have to say - my favorite buffets are definitely Boma and Cape May Cafe. the first time we went to Boma I wasn't impressed...but we gave it another try and I just loved it. The food is different enough to try something new, but familiar enough to really enjoy.

Cape May Cafe is just a familiar favorite - we enjoy the food and love being at the Beach Club.

we love Cape May too. Same reason, familiar. And we like to walk along the boardwalk after dinner. The only other buffet that we have done is Chef Mickeys. Kids love buffets but just havent' done too many of them in WDW. Maybe we should try Boma.

Cape May #1 Just a relaxing atmosphere, there is a "food" for everyone there.

chef mickey's breakfast is a must do for our trips. It is a fun good time.
1900 Park Fare dinner has excellent food and character interaction.
DH just loves Cape May Clam bake - it was only just okay for me.
My whole family agrees Biergarten is top notch. We love the entertainment and the food.

Last year I started the tradition of an annual WDW trip w/ my 4 gfs. Last year we stayed at the YC and got the MYW dining plan. This year I am looking into the Dolphin and eating at all buffets. I want to keep the tradition going for a long time so I have to make the trip as different as I can every year. They are not WDW fans like we are so I have to keep everyone's interest.

I can not wait to try BOMA!

Last year, we (me, DH, 5 year old DD, & 3 year old DS) did the following buffets:

Boma Dinner at the AKL

Very nice restaurant! And the AKL is amazing. We got there early so that we could walk around & see the animals. Yes, the food on the buffet is "exotic", but I found plenty to eat. And there are plenty of choices for children as well. The desserts (zebra domes!!) were the best part, and we'd probably go back just for the desserts! LOL! Boma was the "perfect" ending to our AK day. This year, we're trying to try some new restaurants, so had not included Boma on our list. However, after reading everyone's reviews here & remembering how much we liked it, I may have to work Boma back into our plans!

Chef Mickey's Breakfast at CR

I thought it was fine - typical breakfast food (LOVED the Mickey waffles). The food wasn't extraordinarily great or anything, but the buffet was plentiful, food was kept warm, & there was (I thought) a nice variety. Atmosphere was fun & lively & loud - napkin twirling, the monorail running through the resort, cheerful music, etc. However, the morning we were there, the character interaction was very rushed (Mickey Mouse was the worst). DH, for some reason, was less than impressed w/ this restaurant (both the food & the characters) & doesn't want to go back this year... I, however, would go back. All in all, I think it's a very nice "Disney experience" type meal - both in the location & in the traditional characters.

Crystal Palace Lunch at MK

We had one 1 of the first lunch reservations, and still had to wait 30-45 minutes for a table. The line at the buffet was very long. But, even w/ those 2 things, this was our very favorite buffet! The food choices were wonderful & varied & delicious!! (I got some kind of orange vinegarette salad dressing that was amazing!) And the restaurant was so pretty! And the characters were great as well. We did have to wait quite a bit on Pooh (for some reason, he kept "missing" our side of the restaurant), but he was terrific when he finally made it to our table. The kids went on a parade w/ Tigger. We could see the castle from our table. And, even though the restaurant was crowded, we never felt rushed. Crystal Palace is definitely on our "must do again" list!

Hollwood & Vine Dinner at MGM

We did this for our Fantasmic Dinner Package choice. Maybe because we were "buffeted out", but we weren't really impressed at all. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait quite a while before we were seated. The restaurant was very crowded & loud (but in a totally different way from Chef Mickey's) - the people at the table next to us might as well have been AT our table - that's how close some of the tables are. Typical dinner buffet items; the kids had plenty to eat. The decor was cute (retro Hollywood). DH didn't think the food was very good, and I have to agree w/ him. Of all the restaurants we ate at last year, this was probably our least favorite. This year, we're trying Mama Melrose's for our Fantasmic Dinner Package choice.

Trail's End Breakfast at FW

Typical breakfast buffet w/ the nice addition of Mickey waffles. Wonderful value! The restaurant wasn't at all crowded & the rustic atmosphere was really nice as well.

So, of the buffets we tried, Crystal Palace was our favorite, and Boma was our 2nd favorite. We would not do Hollywood & Vine again. We had the dining package, so I can't comment on the prices except we paid out of pocket for Trail's End, and I thought it was very reasonable.

I will say that, looking back, I think we did too many buffets. The restaurants, of course, stay busy, so it got tiresome having to get up & down from the table (w/ 2 small kids - this was often! LOL!) & then standing in lines at the buffets & juggle plates. This year, I only have Crystal Palace (lunch) & Donald's Breakfastauraus on our list - of course, I may be adding Boma!

I generally don't like buffets, but I thought Boma was very good. They have excellent soups (I especially remember a curried coconut chicken one), lots of vegetables (loved the fufu), a big fruit display, interesting dips, etc. I'm not big on dessert but everyone I was with enjoyed the variety and taste of what was served.

Boma at breakfast is less exciting--more of a typical breakfast brunch, as opposed to lots of African foods. They did have a few options I liked, such as the potatoes with afritude and a type of porridge made with quinoa.
