I had planned to try to score ressies to Chef Mickeys, Princess Storybook, and Tusker House when my ADR days comes up in August. However, my DH and I took my FIL to a buffet dinner at a resort area near where we live. Although it has a pretty decent repuation, it was loud, unorganized, and the food was only fair.

So, the issue I'm having now is my DH is totally turned off to EVER going to another buffet style restaurant. Argh! :(

Knowing Disney's reputation, I'm POSITIVE they will be run better and the quality of the entire experience will be great. But I still have to ask....

How would you rate your experiences for buffet style dining?

Why not try family style? There are lots of family style restaurants in Disney that are all you can eat, but they just bring it to your table. Maybe ease him back in to the buffets...lol. Then "surprise" him with a favorite...like Boma...nothing to loud and crazy. (Haven't tried Tusker house yet). Chef Mickey's may be a little crazy...but maybe he'll change his mind. :)

My husband did not like Chef Mickey dinner (it was loud and the food was so so). My 4 year old wants to go back to CM so we will try to go for breakfast. Tusker House breakfast is a family favorite breakfast place and a must do ever trip. The layout of the food is good and never a line to get food and the food is fresh...juice is amazing. My son loves the character interaction and every 30 they have a dance parade.

I never felt there was a long line at any of the three buffets we ate at last week which were:
Tusker House (B)
Crystal Palace (B)
1900 Park Fare (D)

But Tusker House was LOUD! The other two were great in terms of noise level.

It's a buffet and your in Disney. All things considered we like it and we always go to them .

We have been to just about every single WDW buffet there is, we prefer the breakfast ones but they are not quiet...our favorite is the Beirgarten because of the music and dancing...since it is going to be loud anyways maybe he will not mind that?

I refuse to do buffets here where I live.

For the most part, the Disney buffets are pretty good. The only one I would avoid, based on your husband's feelings, is Chef Mickey's. The food there, for the most part is substandard, it's disorganized, kids are running all over the place. But, it can be fun. The other buffets are much better. Oh, I don't care for 1900 Park Fair either. Very loud, food so-so.

The other ones are pretty good and I think he will be pleasantly surprised.

A big part of his apprehension is germs. ... and I quote, "all those people licking their fingers, sneezing, coughing and touching food."

LOL, he is a bit of an exaggerator... but it's sort of true too.

I honestly don't have a problem with it. It's about my 3 year old and having a chance to do character dining, but I don't know if it's worth it if we aren't all happy diners (relatively speaking anyway).

DH and I really enjoyed Tusker House--yummy food! I'd give it a B+.

I get a bit concerned about germs, too, but Tusker House was very uncrowded when I was there so wasn't too worried. I did see a kid start to touch desserts though and I was :scared1: His mother stopped him after he touched a couple but I was thinking to myself, why aren't you serving your kid instead of letting him get stuff himself?? Kids are going to touch EVERYTHING, they don't know better!

I have been to alot of the buffets at WDW and the best one's for food are
Trail's End at Fort Wilderness and Cape May Cafe at Beach Club for dinner

For the most part we have had awesome Buffet experiences at WDW. The only one that we really did not like was the Tusker House character breakfast. While the food was great, the atmosphere was crazy! It was really loud, crowded and the characters were very rushed~for that reason we will not do it again.
The buffets we never miss are: Boma Dinner, Crystal Palace Breakfast and usually 1900 Park Fare dinner.
We did Chef Mickey's a few years ago and we were not crazy about the selection of food but the character portion was fun.
