Is there any place I could go for a lunch or dinner buffet without characters?

I am newish to Disney and not totally comfortable with visiting with the characters yet.

I will also be alone so no one to take my picture if I got up the courage to have my picture taken with the characters.

Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian Hotel has a dinner buffet with no characters. It is a smallish selection, but the food has been tasty in our experience.

I was going to suggest Storyteller's as well! We too prefer our meals without the characters. Just don't do Storyteller's breakfast, as that is a character meal.

ETA If you get your courage up to 'meet the characters' and you have a Disney VIsa, go to the Disney Visa meet&greet (very private) where they will take your picture for you!

yup, ST has a good buffet for lunch and dinner and NO characters. :)

Big Thunder Ranch BBQ has excellent food and no characters. There are a few entertainers on a small stage that sing a bit. Not a typical buffet as they bring food to you but its all you can eat ribs, chicken, beans, corn, sausage, bread etc.
