Buffet meals and kids question...

Hi all...

What are the "rules" about paying(or not paying) for kids meals at buffets? The two buffets that are an "issue" are 'Ohana and Cape May Clam Bake. (Not character meals)

We are travelling with some close friends who have DS7 & a VERY picky DS5 and they are sort of (how can I put this...)...well, cheap. We want to enjoy meals with them but they don't like the idea of paying the price for a kids meal at the buffets for both kids when one won't eat anything and they'll be feeding him at the hotel most likely before we dine.

We have a fussy DS7 who picks and barely eats anything. We always happily pay the kids price for WDW buffets for him because we enjoy going to them and we have a DS2 who isn't charged and eats a lot. Figure it all evens out.

What happens if they go to a buffet and he doesn't want to eat? Can they pay the "sitting fee $5"? Perhaps just order him dessert and a beverage?

Thanks :)

Hi, I know what you mean about picky eaters. I can tell you our experience. At Cape May and Trail's End DS did not eat, I explained to the CM's that he is autistic and rarely eats at restaurants. There was not one problem. As a matter of fact they let him have juice and did not charge us. Now we did pay for him at two charactor meals but I have heard others report on these boards when they have attended with children with special needs who will not eat they have been charged a nominal fee like $5.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I know that Ohana's offers children alternatives to the typical menu offered. We get our daughters hot dogs and fries, and there are a few other choices too. They do not charge extra for this. It is included in the child's price for Ohana's. That may help.

I don't consider myself cheap but I don't like to pay for uneaten food.

I'm like you in that I'm willing to pay for buffets for my picky eater. I actually prefer them over pre-plated meals like Cinderella's Table, where I know I will pay, leave and immediately have to find something more to eat. I'm so desparate for my oldest DD (seven years old and just now reaching 40 pounds) to eat anything, that I gladly pay for the buffet price so that she can try something new and move back to the old favorites if she needs too. So I don't have any advice for sitting fees or anything like that.

Hope this helps a little.
