Is there a list somewhere that lists places to eat that are buffet/family style? Specifically places you do not have to have reserverations to go to?

Allears.net has a page that lists them all with prices..

I think reservations would be recommended for most of those.. and i know on the DIS there is a site with menus and lots of pics of all the restaurants, i just dont know how to get to it. If anyone else does, I'd appreciate the help! :)

Hope that helps you out! Have a great WDW Trip!

And, reservations are recommended at ALL Disney restaurants that accept them. Guests seeking to eat meals without having to plan in advance should expect to eat at counter service locations.

Alternatively, the sit-down restaurants at the Moderate resorts are less likely to be be completely full, so more likely to be accepting walkups, than the park restaurants or ones close by.

While reservations are not required at TS restaurants - there's no rule or anything - the reality is that you're not likely to get into any of the places that offer buffets without a reservation. If it's a character meal, you need to reserve those 90 days in advance. They book up very, very quickly.

Even the buffets and AYCE places without characters are extremely popular, and can be difficult to get into.

Since WDW restaurants don't hold tables for walk-ups, you'll want to try to get a reservation for any of the buffet places.

We've been to Disney World early May, mid-May, late May, early June, early August, mid-September and Thanksgiving week. Each and every trip, we have seen people being turned away because they didn't have ADRs. If you really want to each at a certain restaurant, I suggest you make ADRs.

IF you are lucky, and if you are flexible on restaurant choices, and if you willing to eat very early or very late for meals (like lunch at 11 or 3:00, dinner at 3:30 or 4:00) many restaurants will take walk-ups. Family style & buffets are very popular, by the way (both are generally less expensive table service options which helps their popularity.)

So if you're looking to eat at the most popular places and/or during Prime Time, you better have ADRs lined up.

As the others have said, even if it is a buffet or family style sit down, you need reservations in advance. It is very difficult to eat anywhere near the parks and the deluxe resort areas without reservations.
Good Luck

All buffets and family style restaurants at WDW are considered Table Service (TS). This means they all take reservations, and if they take reservations, then you almost always need a reservation, with some exceptions.

Catne's suggestions are excellent. I will add this to them - if you go to the podium at a restaurant in the morning, and ask for a lunch or dinner reservation later that day, they will sometimes be able to accomodate you. I've gotten into Hollywood and Vine several times with this technique during busy days when they weren't accepting walk-ups after 4pm.

The one buffet that I have never had trouble getting into as a walk-up is Trails End Buffeteria in the Fort Wilderness campground. Trails End is a little-known gem with simple, American-style food, a very casual family atmosphere, and very nice staff, even by Disney standards.

I have also been able to get into Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner a couple of times with no ADR and a brief wait. And since LTT now has no characters, it may be less popular and thus easier to get into as a walk-up.
