Talking about back to school. Has anyone been over the border shopping? We are taking DD15 for her birthday for a little end of summer fun and to find different school supplies. We will not be bothered with the Outlet stores, she found a Hollister in a huge mall 30 min. away. Plus Walmart, and Target are close by too.

We're looking forward to doing some shopping in a couple of weeks. We'll do Walden Galleria after breakfast for a couple of hours and then head over to Target and Walmart before coming home.
We'll be on our way back from Florida so no duty charges for us!!!

Just went last weekend....
Awesome Back to school deals at Target, but SOLD OUT of alot of supplies.
We went to Kmart instead and found some good deals... Yucky store though.
We went to Boulavard Mall ( ANNE TAYLOR LOFT>>> GREAT DEALS!!!!)
Bath and body works and Macy's are a must!!
Then lunch at Paniera Bread (YUM).
And back over the border with about $150 each,.. no problem.
Have fun!:cool1:

We are thinking of doing this very thing. I heard a teacher talking on CFRB (toronto talk radio) about how she goes every year to buy extra supplies for her students and she was comparing CND/US prices. Supposedly the same Crayola markers that were in the 4.00 range here go for about 1.00 at Walmart in Buf! I want to go just to see if this is true(plus to splurge shop at Kirkland's Home in the Galleria)If anyone goes over, let us know how you did and what kind of bargains, if any, you found.

My best friend is a teacher and she has got these amazing marking books in the Target dollar spot the last couple of years. Simular type of books here are 10-20 a book. She must have bought about 20 of them this year, just incase they dont have them ever again.

I too am a teacher and we go shopping in Frankenmuth / Birch Run every year. This is shopping for clothes for me and for my girls, but I also pick up extra school stuff. Places like Walmart, Target, and KMart have amazing prices on their school stuff. Last year I bought markers (Crayola) for 81 cents ... but they aren't the washable ones. The washable were about $1 more. I bought boxes of 24 crayons for 20 cents. I bought folders (two pocket laminated ones) for 12 for a dollar. Paper spiral coil notebooks, the 80 page variety) were 10 cents each. I could go on and on!! The sales are literally amazing. Glue sticks, pens, pencils, erasers, scissors, etc ... all CHEAP as can be! Not fair!

So we are headed there again on Sunday and again I can't wait to hit the school supply section. My oldest is going into grade one this year, so we get to buy a few supplies for her to use. She needs a back pack and lunch bag too, as does her younger sister who is starting JK. I love shopping in the US!!!

I went mid-July just as a fun getaway with my DDs. At the time, back-to-school stuff was just starting to come out. If you need clothes for young girls, it's worth the trip. Even if you just go to the Niagara Outlets just across the Lewiston Bridge, you'll find Old Navy, Children's Place, Gap, etc.

There's a huge mark-up in Canada on clothes imported from the US (that's why Wal-mart sells made-in-Canada instead of the stock they have down there). I don't remember exact prices of all Fall clothes, but I do know that I picked up cordoroy skirts at Children's Place for 2 for $18, and in Canada they are 2 for $28. Also, I picked up one pair of blue uniform pants at Old Navy for regular price $12.50, and they are $19.50 here.

Re - another post. Just to let you know the Bath and Body works at Galleria is under construction. They do have another store open by Sears but it's much smaller than the other one was. I was slightly disappointed, but they still had plenty of soaps :goodvibes

Went a few weeks ago in July. Hit Target for the school supplies. 20 cents for a 24 pack of crayola crayons (bought several), 10 spiral bound notebooks $1.00. Lots of other deals on school supplies. I bought a pair of high top converse for my 8 year old son at Marshall's (their version of Winners) for $14.99 (50 - 60 $ here) a pair for my 15 year old for $19.99 ($70 - 80 here). We are going back next weekend to get another pair for each and get some more "stuff". We buy our back to school stuff there every year.
Also bought some great bath towels at target for $4.99. Bought some in red and some in black which for some reason are hard to find. Of course my bathroom is done in Mickey and Minnie so needed them :)
The outlet mall is good too, I especially like the Gap store and Old Navy, much better deals than you can get here.

We did our back to school run to Rochester this year. As mentioned above basic school supplies were ridiculously cheap. The Walmart Supercentre and Target were seeing who could giveaway product the cheapest. We also stocked up on books ( kids love Magic Treehouse/Capt. Underpants etc) half the price of Chapters.

We ventured further down the I90 to the Waterloo Premium outlets and found some great deals. We basically outfitted 3 kids with new outfits, backpacks and stationary for under $300. Would have been at least $500 here.

OT-We mixed in a little pleasure on the trip and visited the Strong Museum of Play strongmuseum.org . If you have kids 3-13 this is a great place to visit. They have a replica of the set of Sesame Street, a mini Wegmans grocery store, the National Toy Hall of Fame, and dozens of other exhibits. I'd never heard of this museum before but it is amazing for kids. Mine are asking when we are going back.
