Has anyone been to Artist Point recently, and noticed the buffalo on the menu?

This is DH's number one choice, due primarily to the buffalo steak entree... I am hoping it is still there, as we are arriving next week and if it's not there it might sway our dining to another restaurant!

TIA! :thumbsup2

It was on the menu when I ate there both in early October and again when we were there Dec 12th-20th. It is the buffalo strip steak, not the buffalo rib like they had there for awhile. The only thing is, if you are a fan of their berry cobbler, it has changed and not for the better. It is now alot smaller, much fewer berries, and comes with an orange amaretto ice cream, instead of the black raspberry it used to come with. It also no longer comes with the drizzle.

I was going to say "your DH is my kind of man" then realized how that sounded! LOL but any fellow buffalo meat lover is a friend of mine! I remember when I had it for the first time, usually during dinner we'd yammer on about what had happened during the day or what we'd do the next day..and there was just silence as we ate our buffalo.

You can have him! :rotfl:

I've never had buffalo before, but he swears when I take one bite, I won't ever go back to plain ol' cow!

It depends on how it's prepared. It's usually served fairly rare, as it can get very tough if overcooked. We have buffalo at serveral restaurants here in Texas and I can tell you the buffalo at Artist Point is very well prepared. It's so tender and flavorful.:cloud9:

The menu on allears and here on the DIS is both wrong though. When I ate there both this past Oct and again in Dec the buffalo came on a dark chocolate red wine reduction sauce, topped with a goat cheese polenta then the buffalo on top, then an ancho cherry compote on top of the buffalo, then little golden beets and asparagus around it. It used to come with a sweet potato gratin, but not anymore. Of course they are very good about letting you switch the sides around if you want. However, the goat chees polenta set off the buffalo perfectly. We loved it just the way it came. By the way their mussels and mushroom soup are both absolutely wonderful too. The mushroom soup looks nasty, but is soooo good.

LOL it's true, you won't want to go back to normal cow. PP is right though, it is all in the cooking. It has less fat than normal beef, so cooking it past medium makes it very tough because you cook all the moisture out of it. If you like beef, you'll like buffalo, it tastes the same, just more intense. As far as what it's served with, my understanding is that the menu will change (and it seems to be the side dishes that change most often) based on seasonal availibity and quality.
