My friend is considering flying Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale in March. Can anyone give me any information on parking costs, parking safety, convience? Any comments.

The parking at the airport is about $45 for the week, very safe and they have shuttles waiting to pick you up and take you to the main door. We have parked at the airport 2x now and stayed at one of the nearby hotles 3x. The hotels will shuttle you to the airport and keep your car for up to 2 weeks.

Thanks for posting this question. I'd like some more info if you don't mind. What are the airlines that you typically use to fly to Orlando from Buffalo? What's a "typical good rate", say for the end of April? Do you have a link to some websites I could use to check flight costs out of Buffalo? I've only ever flown out of Canada. Thanks so much for any info you can provide.

Try www.southwest.com, www.airtran.com, www.jetblue.com. You could get a fare with southwest for $49 each way plus tax which comes to about $118 US or about $140 CA depending on exchange rates. I've only flown southwest as I want a direct flight to Orlando, if you go the other airlines they stop in either NY city or Atlanta.

Hope that helps!

We fly Southwest. My airfare for all 5 of us in December was $486 US or $620 CDN.

Go tot he Southwest website and download "Ding" They run a few specials every day so you have to keep your eye on them.

We love Southwest too and are flying Buffalo to MCO for a grand total (for DH and I) of $112.00 CND each!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ya gotta love Southwest!!! :rotfl: :hippie:

We flew out of Buffalo in December. Parking was $40 (american) and we had no problems with Safety, I wouldn't reccomend doing the cheapest parking, which is down the street Near Harlem st.
It's a pretty small airport, so easy to navigate. I am from Niagara Falls, NY and have flown from Buffalo many times, any ?'s please just ask.

We fly out of Buffalo every year, used to drive because Toronto was so expensive. Now, I would never fly from anywhere else - Southwest is only airline with non-stop flights to Orlando - excellent service and even better prices! And now with Magic Express shuttle from airport for free, flying is even cheaper! Buffalo airport is easy to get to, hardly any traffic to worry about, and no problem finding parking lots and shuttle takes you directly from your car to the terminal. You'll never fly out of Toronto again!

Thank you so much for all your help! :thumbsup2

My friend has decided to fly from Pearson but after all this info I am trying to convince DH to fly from Buffalo on our next rip in May.

I have another question though concerning Southwest's DING service. When I try to download it asks for an American postal code (the right name has left my brain right now). :scratchin What are you supposed to enter? :confused3

I'd enter a zip code for Buffalo, 14201, since that's the airport you'll be flying from.

Thank you very much LewisC.

Also are there any hotel recommendations if we decide to drive down the night before/ (depending on our flight time)

Do a search. There are a lot of threads from people who do a park n fly in Buffalo. Also search in the transportation forum.

We leave in about a week and booked a SUITE at Homewood Suites with a separate bedroom and living area. The price listed online was $151 USD when I checked in Dec but I just called them in January and the price she gave me was $99. That includes up to 2 wks of parking while you're gone and hot breakfast buffet in the morning. They have a pool too. Shuttle runs 24hrs and it's right at the airport. Ask for the 'Park/sleep/fly' rate.

www.parksleepfly.com is the site I found them on. There are others for less money if it's just a basic room you need. I think the lowest was around $69 (online) but probably cheaper if you call and depending on your dates of travelling (high season or low season).

Definitely keep an eye on your 'DING' icon. Usually 2 dings a day, sometimes a third in the evening or at night. Dings usually happen around 10am and 4pm but that's definitely not in stone. The fares are amazing. To think of the money we almost spent to fly out of Toronto, not to mention the Pearson headache. We have 4 adult fares, both direct flights, with a total price of $700.80 USD, and I probably could have gotten lower had I watched my DING for the last 2 months (booked a couple of months ago through DING).

Best of luck!!

How long does it take to get to the airport from the border? Also how much extra time should we allow for parking in the airport and shuttle?

15 min from border - depending on time of day (take the Peace Bridge at Ft. Erie...less tolls and it's closer once you're over.

The parking/shuttle question, I don't know.

Thanks, I didn't want to get down too early.

Thank you very much for all your help! :goodvibes

I think I have all the information I need to sell my DH on the fact that it is better to fly out of Buffalo! That means more $$ to spend at DISNEY! :cool1: :mickeyjum

I knew that everyone here would have the answers! :thumbsup2 :disrocks:
