Why is it I can fly out of BUF to MCO for less and even with the cost of the bus back and forth to Toronto and an extra night in BUF it is STILL cheaper than flying out of YYZ???? Pearson why do you have to be so expensive????

which bus did you take? we were looking at Megabus, which is REALLY cheap.

Thanks

Airport taxes & fees. Is there HST on flights, too? 13% vs. whatever US state you fly out of. Not to mention, the parking is more convenient and cheaper @ BUF.

Our last trip, I priced out the flights from Pearson for fun. For four, roundtrip, on Air Canada Tango=$3200. That's about what we spent on the entire trip from flights, rental car, condo, Disney tix, MNSSHP, etc.

Pretty sure YYZ has the highest fees in Canada for airlines to fly in & out of there so when the airlines have huge fees, customers pay those huge fees.

Ya but westjet out of Pearson doesn't charge as much in taxes as other airlines, so is it the airport or the airline?

We flew out of Pearson last year and are flying SW from Buffalo this year.. so far our flights for 4 are a few hundred dollars less than my flight for 3 out of Pearson last year

I kinda like flying out of Buffalo. We used to take a day while we were in florida and shop at the stores we didnt have at home. Now we take a extra day at the end and stop at Walden and get anything we were looking for. I love how the parking is so unexpensive and just how nice the airport is. Its also a fun game to see that 80% of the licence plates in the airport are from Ontario.
I love the Fisher Price gate with all the toys for the kids to play with. Yes, we have to wipe the kids down after but its a great way for them to burn some energy before going on the plane.
For us it was $800.00 all together for us to fly to MCO in Feb on Jet blue, I couldnt find anything under $2000.00 for the times we were going out of pearson.

LOL I thought we had the most expensive airport in the world LOL

we are in niagara and we always fly buf. It is so much easier than going to to. I don't even check toronto flights anymore. |Not only is buf cheaper it is just easier. and leaving from buf disney will collect my bags for me and take them to my room:thumbsup2

Anyone taking Magical Express gets luggage delivery to their room. Flying from Canada or overaseas you can get ME with luggage delivery to your room

We haven't done it in winter yet, but Buffalo wins hands down.

Last month we did Buffalo-NYC on JetBlue and it was so easy. Next it's BUF-MCO. The cost is running about one-third that of travelling through Pearson. Those savings are significant.

We figure the gas cost is offset by what would be our taxi fare to Pearson. Then it's a matter of whether the time for the drive offsets the time waiting for security, customs, etc. Yes!

And finally, when the cost of a hotel the night before is included, is it still cheaper? Oh my yes.

See you in WDW.

For the most part that is true...however, I just returned from Orlando this past Tues. We were 3 people...paid $727 return for all 3 of us w/Westjet. That's less than $250 pp. Going again in Nov and again Dec...booked AC during a seat sale and paid $537 for 2 of us round trip. Just over $260 pp...

I am a big Buffalo supporter...but sometimes it's a no brainer. Especially..in the winter months!

It depends on where you are going as to if it's that much cheaper..... for our flight to San Juan in December it's going to cost us $480pp return out of Buffalo and $566pp return out of Toronto...... not much of a price difference! Still hoping for a sale but that close to Christmas I don't hold out much hope

I snagged some $99 flights out of Detroit at Christmas. Detroit is a little farther than Buffalo for us but seriously...$99!

I did a return flight with Jetblue to San Juan about 5 years back...for 2 of us it was $400 return with a stop in JFK. Haven't seen that fare on that route since!!:confused3

Are you doing a cruise? Sometimes Air Canada has some good air to pair up with a cruise...:confused3

yes we're doing a cruise - having a tough time finding reasonable priced flights..... 2 yrs ago we found $280 return PP out of Detroit for MArch break - I think our biggest issue is we want to leave on the Friday school finishes and come home on the 27th. I've got another month to find something reasonably priced then we need to make the decision to pay out or cancel!

Did you price your cruise w/air with Air Canada Vacations? Sometimes they are pretty favourable. Only drawback can be they don't fly in every day so can be a little restrictive matching up additional days. How about Cruiseline air? They can be fairly competitive.

Cruises from San Juan are often a great deal..but for us in Canada it is the air that can get tricky...;)

I have flown out of Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Detroit. With a family of 5 it is a no brainer to fly out of US and enjoy the savings rather than paying those crazy prices to fly out of Pearson.
