Buena Vista Palace

Anyone ever stay at the Buena Vista Palace in DTD? I saw a ad for them with a pretty good rate and was curious as to what people thought.

Also since it is in DTD do you get the normal disney perks (i.e. send packages back to room, EMH, etc)?

no Disney perks at all.

It is not a WDW resort. The only thing you get is a little better bus service than offsite.

however I would go with WDW,if you can.

go with their bus to whatever parks - but coming back I would walk over to a WDW resort - and take their bus back to DD.

why - Epcot and Studio - fine - don't need anything - they share one bus.

but MK and AK - also share. these parks are the furthest apart of any of them.

so after you take your screaming kid on the DD bus, then he or she has to go to AK before they can get to bed.

walk over to CR take the DD bus and then walk back to the hotel - more walking yes - but it means getting back to your hotel room around an hour before the bus.

We had a horrible experience back when it was owned by Wyndham, mostly bad service, so I can't say if that would be the same case now. However, the accomdations were not nice enough to make us go back, infact it was that trip that convinced us to buy DVC. We'd stay at a Disney value before we'd stay with anyone else again.

We had a great time at the Palace. Our room overlooked Saratoga Springs. From our balcony we could see the fireworks from the MK. The hotel has very nice common areas (Lobby, Pool, Recreation).

The hotel is on Disney property so you are very close to the theme parks. And you can walk to Downtown Disney which is a big plus for us.

We thought the transportation was great. The buses ran every 30 minutes, were clean and more comfortable than the Disney buses. Some people complain that you are dropped off a few hundred feet further away than where the Disney bus drops, but if you are going to walk a bazillion miles, does it really matter if you have to walk a little more.

If you can get a good rate at this hotel, I recommend it

This hotel is getting current rave reviews on tripadvisor. When we plan our next trip I might look into staying here. We drove past the resort last month. I liked the location and I like the new renovations from the website. How it is located it can actually be a full WDW hotel. Sometimes I get tired of the exterior rooms of the mods and values. But if I would have to stay off-site I would stay here in a heartbeat.
