I thought I read somewhere that Disney tacks on the tip if you have 6 or more in your party is this true?

Also what makes up the six? Adults? Children? and Inants?

My party is 4 adults, a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old.

TIA

I believe it is an automatic 18% for parties of 6 or more. I have heard that can be adjusted for bad service by speaking with the manager.

So is my party of: 4 adults, a 5 year old and a 2 year old considered 6? We are on the DDP and DD2 is not on it.

Every person at the table, infants included, are included in the party size...so yes, you'd be 6. They do include 18% automatically, but you are free to leave more (or if you feel less is more appropriate, just speak to the manager like PP said. From everything I've read, they will adjust it.)

you do make up a party of 6, since there will be 6 people at the table :). There will be an 18% gratuity added onto your bill for all TS dining

Adjustments to the gratuity are few and far between. It is just pary of the process. If you are on the DDP, the gratuity will be based on what you actually order.

have fun!

We are a family of 6 and this is one thing that really errks me. The server automatically gets an 18% tip no matter how good or bad the service. I do still tip extra for great service but it bugs me that I can't tip less for poor service. Also I feel servers at the buffet eateries work half as hard for YOUR table (not that they work half as hard). I normally would only give a 10% tip for buffets, but Disney forces me to as I have a bigger family. They make it very ahrd for big families to afford a vacation there.

FWIW, we are a family of five (all "adults" according to Disney, but that's another story!!!)

Based upon doing the FD plan a few times now, we now budget $30 a day for TS tips. This is based upon one TS meal a day "costing" about $150 total, before tip. Some meals are more, some less, but generally, this seems to work out to be the average for us.

Hope this helps -

That is why we are not doing free dining. We have a room only reservation at the AKL. That for us on a 8 night trip is another 240.00. We are only 5 but the tips add up. The other option for us would be free dining at the All star Music suites and do the QSDP.

It does require really thinking about if FD is the best plan for you - and the way you like to vacation. (We're now budgeting/saving for an 11 night stay + a DCL cruise in 2010.) It was great when the tips (and more food!) were included in the FD (couple of years ago), but now...sigh. But, it still works for us.

We truly enjoy our TS/buffet meals and really look forward to them and wouldn't dream of only doing QS - especially on a long visit - but that's just us, so we budget for the tips.

I've already made it clear to my husband, and he agrees, that we will NOT be forced to pay a certain amount. We pay easily 20% usually a lil more. Its the point that they feel they can put it on paper to pay them a certain gratuity.
