Does anyone know if there is a shuttle from the Budget office at Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach to the docks? If so, is there a fee?
Thanks,
Sue

Does the shuttle leave when you are ready, or is there sch. departures?

Thank you.

HA HA just noticed my brillance is shinning (Majic):jester:

It left when it was full, but we didn't wait more than a few minutes. There are at least 2 regular full-size vans, so it doesn't take long to get enough luggage/people to fill one up.

Remember to go to the cruise terminal and drop off your luggage and other members of the family before returning the car to Budget. It's easier than hauling your luggage in the shuttle. Make sure the person coming back in the shuttle has a photo ID when they return.

Thanks you so much for the quick answer. I had just noticed that drop off at Cape Canaveral after our week of rental was the same price as for back at the air port, so I think I'm going to book it.

We've done the one way rentals several times. It's easy and much less expensive than the transfers.

We just came back from a 7 day eastern where we stayed at WDW for four days before driving to Port Canaveral and then dropping off the car at Budget.

I did drive to the port first, dropped off the family and luggage, but my wife wasn't able to check us in because I made the reservations and the credit card used was under my name so the CM refused to process any paperwork until I got back from dropping off the car at Budget.

The Budget rental center had about 20 people waiting in line inside at the counter and about that many or more outside waiting for the shuttle vans. At the time they had 3 shuttle vans running back and forth to the port so once I was finished at the rental counter checking the car in I only waited about 10 minutes for a shuttle.

I do suggest if you don't need a receipt to give the rental agent your key, rental agreement contract, and odometer reading and you won't have to wait to check in your car.

Please clearify-

I booked the cruise and used my credit card so I can check everyone in?

What does DH have to do when he arrives on the shuttle?

Thanks!

Your DH needs to have a picture ID to get into the terminal after being dropped off by Budget.

Check in: Not sure why my DW couldn't at least start the paperwork. Part of it must have had to do with the credit card that will be used for any onboard charges.

Missy stood in line a second time to try again, she used her credit card for the room charges and had no problems. Personally I think the first CM was just having a bad day.

Since you booked everything using your card I don't see why you should have a problems.

We are doing this too.

Should DH keep his ticket also to get in? I made the reservation, so I should be able to check us in when I get there with the kids. I know he will need to go up and check in too when he gets back. I just don't know if I should keep all the tickets together, or should he keep his.

Thanks,
DJ

When you first pull up with your rental you will see signs to drop off the family where the porters will take your luggage.

Before you gain access to that drop off area you need to talk to some nice folks with clipboards that will explain what you need to do. On the clipboards are the passenger manifest where they will ask the adults for picture IDs and check to see if your on the list.

When your DH comes back a second time after dropping off the rental car the shuttle van will not have access to the same area you were dropped off. The van will have to pull into a parking lot across the street from the terminal.

Once he gets out of the van he can walk across the street via the help of some crossing guards where he will see another group of CMs with clipboards. At this point all he needs is his picture ID where they will check again that he is on the list and everything should be fine.

All the while he is returning the rental car you should be able to process the paperwork in terminal and hopefully have it all done by the time he gets back. That being the case you should be ready to board the ship.

Have a great time,

Jeff

We got just off the cruise on Sat and we also used Budget. Before the cruise we dropped off our luggage at the port and the 4 of us went to the store for some things we forgot. When we dropped off the car it was easy just to get in the van and go. The van did drop us off right in front of the terminal. We didn't have to walk across the street. Going home was a different story. We waited in line for 1 1/2 hours before we got a van to take us back to Budget to rent another car to get to the airport. I think only 2 vans were running. There were alot of people ahead of us and alot of luggage. I should have just sent my husband alone to pick the rental up and come back for us. Then when we finally got the car it smelled of smoke so bad that we had to request a different car. Everything took so long that morning that we just about made our flight home. I think it just wasn't our day because then after all that our flight was delayed for 1 1/2 hrs. Go figure! I would use Budget again but next time I will plan differently.

Wow---1 1/2 hour wait to get back to Budget? Is it close enough to walk to? Do they give Fastbreak members priority?

I have always been able to check everyone in while DH returns the rental car. The CM will keep his KTTW card at the desk and when he arrives he goes up to the specific counter when there is a change of customers for that line and they check his ID and hand him his card.

I used Budget in July for Royal Caribbean. Had no problem dropping off. Had to wait about 30 minutes for the pick up after the cruise. Went on a Carnival cruise in August and decided to use Avis after the cruise. That was a big mistake. Had to wait even longer for the shuttle and when I arrived at the place they said my car was not there yet (even though confirmation said I would be there at 9 a.m. and it was now 10 a.m.) While waiting for Avis budget has two shuttles going and saw them two times. I would never use Avis again but would use Budget.

Remember if you drop off your family outside the terminal and go to get your car don't forget to take your room key to get past security and to the pick up area.
