Budget Rent-a-car Port Canaveral

I'll make this easy so Andy can answer with one word.

What time does the shuttle start running for budget?

Got me on this one, I took the shuttle from the Radisson, the first scheduled shuttle to leave the Radisson to go to the port is 10:30am.

Where is Hertz in relation to the Radisson?
Hmmm... I can't answer that question in one word either. LOL! Anyway, Hertz is on the same side of the street as the Radisson, but 1.6 miles away.

We did Budget on our cruise in Nov 2003 - we have a so-so review. The thing about Budget is they moved to a smaller lot. They do not have a lot of room for cars. They rely heavily on the cars being turned in, in order to hand cars out. When we checked in, we were practically hugged by the people standing in line who were waiting for a car... Give me a tiara and I would have felt like royalty!

They did not have enough cars to go around. They were trying to bungee cord luggage into trunks - I'm surprised they did not suggest people fit in there as well. :)

We waited about 45 minutes for a van to take us to the port, because the driver got lost, and they only had one van running.. (this is what we were told - how you can get lost I do not understand..but then again, I've had to find office suites in Manhattan)...We were so close, yet so far way. We had dropped off all our luggage except for a small overnight bag (thank you DIS boards!), and had traveled together to Budget coz - I had a "feeling" it might not go so quick and wanted to stay together.... I was glad we did... because we had a great time chatting with some people just off the Magic (who were waiting for a car!), who told us how much fun we were going to have (and we DID!) and made the best of it.

When we got off the ship - wow - the van was there.. two vans were running, we only had to wait about 10 - 15 minutes for our car once at Budget. They were washing and scrubbing it for us... (not such a hot job on that - but HEY - we had a car...which is more than we can say for the people when we WENT on the cruise!)... and it was much better than what we were prepared for.

I wrote a report about the budget experience - didn't post it... Bottom line - we went with the flow and survived. Got an excellent price, and the shuttle drivers were wonderful - even the guy who got lost. He was SO nice - we had such a great time talking to him on the trip in. He even remembered us the following Saturday and asked how our Disney cruise was when we arrived at Budget and we bumped in to him! How can you be upset at a person like that? Can NOT! He was just an older man trying to make a living - and, so, I waited in line a bit longer trying to get on a cruise ship for a week. In perspective, that's not such a problem. :)

The only thing that bothered me was the people waiting for the cars...and still waiting when I left on the cruise. I'm not sure if they are connected with Enterprise, but they ended up having an Enterprise van pick up a bunch of them and haul them off to presumably - vehicles - which they did NOT have there.

It is what you make of it...BUT, if you are on a tight schedule, I would honestly recommend somewhere else.

Here is what my thought was...Since we are staying at the Radisson I was going to send my DH to Budget first thing Sat. morning and haave him return the car and then walk back to the Radisson and we would all take the shuttle together (with our luggage). My reason for doing this is that my DH has no sense of direction (and like the Shuttle driver) he would get lost and freak out. So in that scenario we wouldn't need the Budget shuttle, just the Radisson...Would that work??

Hey Andy, Can I have more than a one word answer:teeth: ?

Sorry, just had to get that one in. I'm recovering from a nasty fall on black ice Wednesday morning, and I can't sit at my computer but for a few minutes at a time.

Last August, I drove our rental car back to Avis and had a DIS friend drive me back to the Radisson to join my family. I wanted to keep us all together, because I had all the paperwork (no flames please) but my DW tends to lose things very easily.

This worked out great for us, we were on the first shuttle to leave the Radisson and rode over with another very nice (lurking) DIS family.

Will probably do the same this August.

We used Budget for our return in August and there was no one waiting for Budget but there was quite a long line for Avis.

Yes, we are driving down, and no, I'm not a Scott Hamilton!!! Heck, I couldn't even make it in the Disney Ice Show, unless they need someone to be laying down on the ice!!! LOL!!!

Sorry about your fall, Andy! I only wish that Avis was still at the Radission. It was so easy back then!
