It was time to bring my dog in for vaccines. When I asked how much, I was told $195 for everything. I nearly fell off the chair. Now I love my dog, but times are tough.
I checked around and found a vaccine clinic in my area. $49 for everything.

Apparently, they are all over. Just put in your address and it will show you the location of a clinic near you. Mine is going to be at the local Petco in two weeks.

If there isn't one near you, google pet low cost vaccines in your area.

For $150 savings, I can wait.

What a great deal. I just searched for a clinic by me & nothing in MN :(

Great tip! I'll have to dig out our receipts and see how this compares. Have a local one coming up this weekend.

My sister did this. The only drawback is you have to wait in a very long line.

They have permanent ones in the Phoenix area. They do spay/nueters and vaccines. I got two cats fixed and their annual shots for under 200 dollars a few years back!:thumbsup2 It was a drop off service. I brought the babies in their own carriers and left them on a shelf in the back cat room and then they called me in the afternoon when they were down. No problems!

Are your vets okay with this? I know if I took my dog there then my vet wouldn't even see them. My vet charges over $200-$400 (depending). However, he does an actual wellness exam with it, not just the vaccines. And they get a report card:) But if I didn't take them there once a year for their wellness exams, he would not keep them as clients.

I tried this company once to save money and unfortunately my pet became very sick. My vet said it was most likely caused by mishandled vaccines. The company said nothing is their fault because you basically signed the paperwork.

This is another reason I would be wary. I am very particular about who even touches my babies!

We used this service at a Petco two years ago and my dog became very sick. So, all the money we saved, we wound up spending at the vet for an emergency Sunday night visit, plus antibotics, etc.

I think they're a great idea and I really don't see much difference between this and getting your flu shot at a local drug store rather than making an appt to see your regular doctor (if you have one that charges for a full visit to get the flu shot).

If you know your dog is fairly healthy and hasn't had a reaction to the vaccines in the past, then I'm all for it. I wouldn't bring a dog that hasn't ever had the vaccines before as I like my regular vet to do their first shots just in case there's a reaction but aside from that, I think it's a great way to save some money.

Mine isn't. I did it once and I'll never go back. Cost is not that much different and my vet won't keep you as a client unless you get your vaccines from them and they are very lenient about their policies.

Lines are very long and these people are basically just injecting your animals without even doing a health check or anything. If your pet has a reaction, these people are long gone and you have no recourse. More than once, I've had a pet that had to go back the same day or next day because of a bad reaction to a vaccine. A trip to the emergency vet is big $$$$$

I think it just depends on the place. We have a vet here called Pet Care Express that is basically a puppy clinic. Their shots are $34 and the regular vet is $162. I have told my vet that times are tough. I would never take the dogs to the clinic for "issues." However, I have 3 dogs and every little bit helps. I think that is in bad judgement for a vet to say that since they did not give the vaccines that they wont see the dog any longer. I wouldnt want that vet as my pups' doc.

I would never again use a company like this as you read in my other post. My dog has permanent issues because of the vaccine being mishandled. (According to my vet) She started acting very limp, eyes cloudy within a few days. She is now a special needs dog and the company will do nothing about it.

but I'm 95 miles away from one. By the time you spend for gas and the time factor for a round trip it's somewhat of a pain for me.

But for those who can take advantage it sounds good.

Ive used luvmypet for all of my dog's shots. They are very wonderful people. My dog has NEVER gotten sick! You do have to wait in a line, but if you get there early enough, your quick to get done. I dont see a problem with using this service. If my vet, didnt want to take my dog because Ive gotten services cheaper some other place, I wouldnt take my dog to see them ever again! They should be happy that your taking care of your dog regardless. I take my dog for regular checkups, but I dont like the fact that you have to pay 50 bucks + vacs charge for nothing.
