I know...they are the "same" company, but here's my situation...
I have rented a few times from Budget and signed up for their Fastbreak program. They gave me a complimentary upgrade on each of the three occasions I've rented from them which, while not necessary, was a nice perk. I have a one-way rental coming up in October for one night. It is just my mother and I so I booked a compact through Budget. I noticed that the price for the same car through Avis (picking up at the SAME, non-airport location) is a little cheaper. I signed up for the Avis "frequent renter" program (can't recall the name) but I didn't book the car yet.
My question is, are there any advantages or benefits that one agency offers over the other? I don't think either of them allow a free additional driver that would cover my mother, correct? While we certainly do not need an upgrade, I'm wondering what your experiences have been with Avis? Or were my upgrades at Budget just dumb luck? The pick up and drop off with Budget was so easy since I used the Fastbreak and the counter agent said that they typically upgrade their Fastbreak members automatically if a vehicle is available. So should I just stick with Budget or switch over to Avis and hope for the same level of service?
