I wasnt sure whether to put this on the budget board or here.
Anyone that has been on the DDP how much extra did you budget.
We will have a credit card for emergencys.
We are two adults with small appetites compared to disney portions.
We don't drink much but may occasionaly partake.
We unsure how much to take.

I packed breakfast bars and dried fruit in our luggage plus I had a case of water delivered to the resort because it was very hot in September. The only other money that we had to spend on food was the couple of glasses of wine that I ordered with dinners. We even had some leftover snack credits that we used to buy cookies and such to take home with us.

We'll be on the dining plan for 13 nights this August. (15 year old son and I)

I'm budgeting and extra $300.00 ($20.00 per day)for food. We like a hot breakfast each morning. I'd rather pay OOP for breakfast and save CS credits for lunch or dinner.

Since water is only $2.00, I'd rather pay OOP for it than use a snack credit.

We love our snacks. One a day won't cut it for us. :dance3:

it depends on lots of things:
-what do you plan to do for breakfast?
-do you think the snacks will be used everyday?

with the following dependant on things like that, i'd say: 10 dollars a day for each person (that's an alcohol beverage+snack/extra food). i guess you wouldn't actually use all of that, but i always end up being happy when i spend less than i budget.

Not to hijack the thread but this is :scared1: me. We are on the ddp for our july trip. I had only planned to budget the following, beyond the ddp.

RFC oop $100
Refillable mugs (2) $25
Misc Snacks $50

We plan on bringing breakfast things and having bfast in the room most days. Bringing drink mixes for the free water.

With all the talk about how much food there is on the ddp I didn't think we would need more than that. Was I way wrong?:confused3

I forgot that I need to add mugs to our budget.

I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it. It just boils down to what will work best for your family.

We had tons of breakfast foods and snack items in our room during our first three trips. At the end of each trip, most of the food ended up in the trash. Neither one of us was willing to eat cornpops in the room when we could have Mickey waffles in the food court. We didn't want granola bars, chips, cookies from home, when we could have funnel cakes, candy apples, fudge... in the parks.

We only ate the snacks from home when we couldn't get anything else. (Universe of Energy, Space Ship Earth, midnight snacking)

We bring along about $20 a day in fives and ones for extra tipping and small purchases like water or itzakadoozies. We charged all our souveniers and any extra food purchases to our room key.

Ok so far I have $585 which equates to roughly $20 a day.

My plan was to get something with snack credits like a box of donuts for breakfast and share those out with some juice from snack credit.
Then aim for an early cs lunch probably by 11.30 maybe shared maybe not.
Then I was gonna do a TS sit down around 6-7pm dependant on ADRs.

We cant really fetch food as we are travelling from the UK and I don't think you are suppposed to bring anything.

Last time we was at WDW we didn't have the dining plan and we tended to have a breakfast each either pancakes or waffles then share a milkshake and fries for lunch then grab a burger and fries for dinner.
Occasionaly we ate a sit down with a shared starter a main course each and no pudding.
I know that DDP will change this lol.
We may pay oop for a big breakfast some mornings like the buffet one at maya grill and then just use a snack for lunch.
I was hoping that my $580 may have been enough for any drinks and souvineers but now I see I may need some more.

Plan for water. I know lots of people bring their own but for me it wouldn't work. I don't want to carry the bottle all day. Plus, your bottle could be crushed if you drop it, if it flies off of a ride, etc etc etc. Anyway, plan to buy water (at least one bottle a day) and you may have extra left over. Also, if you have a small appetite you may not eat a lot in one sitting. The problem is if you don't take the leftovers with you (meaning, you don't go directly back to the hotel room) you may be hungry as the night passes. Figure on one snack per day OOP. Again, if you don't use it, you save money.

I generally budget $40 per day OOP. It could be on anything. That's just the cash I carry with me. It's the same whether there are 4 of us or 2 of us.

for 10 days for 4 people!!! DDp is soo much food for us. This is the plan that worked best for us. Remember everyone is different but I figure if you get enough different plans, maybe one will click with you!

We went to the little resort store and bought a dozen donuts and a half gallon of orange juice for 1 snack credit each on the first day. If we got up and weren't very hungry, this was breakfast. If we were hungry, we ordered the biggest breakfast platter we could and split it, using only 1 counter service credit. We then used the other counter service credit to split lunch and ordered our own Table Service meal. This took care of DH & me. We let the kids (21 & 16) use their credits where and when they chose although they almost always ate dinner with us. At the end of the 10 days, we still had 1 TS, 5 CS and 11SC left!!!

We used cash for extra tipping which is a matter of personal preference. Tip is included in the DDP. We had drinks at the Polynesian and the kids ordered specialty drinks at Coral Reef. The plan covered everything else!!!

Hope this helps!

Last year in Sept. me and DBF brought water and snacks from home. We shared a breakfast platter at POP each morning. We didn't even end up touching any of our snacks since we were on the DDP and were stuffed. We spent about $50.00 total on snacks, breakfast and extra tips. We spent a lot of money at the F&WF but this year we won't be there during that time so it will be much less. We were there for 4 nights.

Thanks for all the help. I drink the free water from the fountains as I am not fussy lol.
I think our budget will be ok at least I hope so.

Last year we, 2A/2C, over 10 days, spent <$140 OOP on food (and $20 of that was fast food lunch the day we went off property to mousesurplus). I did have a case of water, breakfast foods and a few snacks delivered to the room, but we also had something like 11 snacks and 5 CS meals left on the last day. The other $120 was glow cube drinks and adult beverages (1 per day for each of the adults on 7 of the 10 days).

Next time, I plan on having less food delivered to the room and using up more of the snack credits as we go. Dh says I was a little stingy about using them last time :rolleyes1 , but my recollection is that we just weren't hungry for one most of the time.

Last year we primarily spent OOP for alcohol. For nine nights- I think we had run up a $150 tab. We may have spent about $20 to $30 on actual snack stuff, but I can't remember. Maybe because of all those margaritas. :rotfl2:

We spent less than $100 extra for our 10 night trip last year. We brought a few breakfast and snack items in our luggage and had water delivered from Staples. DH 'needed' coffee even though we had the coffee maker in the room. We also had a few drinky-drinks and a few souveniers. That was all... enjoy
:dance3: :dance3:
