Budget kitchen countertop question

Wow, this is an old post. I wonder what bumped it up? Well, to update, we still have done nothing in our kitchen since I posted this last year, but I do now have a DD in a very expensive private college, so I'm lucky I even still have a kitchen.

Yes.. that's the good side of it. Let's just be thankful that we have our own kitchen. Despite it's status now, I think.. Contentment is just the key.. right?
