We are having a halloween party and want to turn the backyard into a haunted house....cheaply! I don't know where to start so any advice would be great!!

Create giant spider webs out of yarn. Use black if on a light background, such as the house, White if in the trees.

Create the spider from paper mache, over a large balloon, painted black. If you're makign a party out of it, you can turn the spider into a pinata ;)

drape old white sheets you don't mind tossing over the grill, lamps, and anything that's out of place.

Borrow a black light from a friend

Make giant cat eyes out of yellow or orange cello-wrap, tape to the inside of the windows looking into the backyard, cover the rest of the window around the eyes with black construction paper. Leave a light on in the house to have them glow.

Create Large tombstones out of cardboard painted gray (have some cracked) and lean them up against & near each other in a corner of the yard. If you want to get really creepy, dig up some dirt at the base and have something peeking up out of the pile.

You can create a skeleton out of PVC piping and empty milk jugs pretty cheap look here for directions.

I remember going to one when I was a kid, and since it was given by the Girl Scouts, it was done VERY budge friendly...

What they did have was a table set up, with a tarp draped over it so you could not see it as you walked up to it. They had an adult on either side of the table, one to guide and one to explain.

Under the tarp were various bowls filled with stuff...

The first: JELLO, and the person on the side helping the children guides the hand into the bowl and says this is guts and goo...

The second: Cauliflower (whole) that is someones brain

Third, Noodles: Intestines

Fourth: A plastic glove filled with water and you tell them it is a dead hand.

More funny once they realize it is all fun...well at least I know I was about 10 and 24 years later, I still remember it being fun.

GOOD LUCK!!

I hit up the dollar tree yesterday. I got tons of decorations for cheap!!

Make dummies by stuffing old clothing. You can losely stuff a pillowcase for the head and cover with a mask. Have these in various spots. Mix in real people in masks, sitting posed like the dummies, and have them move when the kids get close. I've found this is the best part of the haunted yard!

We put our cardboard tombstones on wooden stakes, after the party we moved them to the front for Halloween night, so all the trick or treaters could see them. We got lots of comments that year!

Don't forget the olives for eyeballs!!!
