I know there are some great codes for car rentals over on the Transportation thread but Budget.ca or Travelocity.ca has some good rates for Canadians renting in florida. You don't need to enter any BCD Number for rate code but you can use E-Coupon Code MUWZ023 for $25.00 off.

Just checked a full size for example during March break from March 10 - 17th and total is $150.15 inc taxes after $25 coupon is applied when return vehicle.

Just checked the rate for my dates (December 31 - January 7).............a compact car would be $711.30 with taxes

I would love a great price like you have found!! I have put my order in with Santa for a price reduction by Christmastime :cutie: .

I think it may depend on your dates. Not sure what kind of rate you have right now for holiday season. Try BCD x474200 (travelocity public code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off. Total for compact inc taxes is $237.70 after coupon is applied when return vehicle.

thanks for posting this, budget also includes spouse within free additional driver, great deal

Unfortunately, we need the car for 7 days, 2 hours (our flights were recently changed by Jetblue from an early morning departure to a mid-afternoon departure, fouling up my best laid plans!!!). Those extra two hours will add $39 to the base rate through Budget (otherwise, it would have been a fine deal). We currently have an economy through Enterprise for $258 taxes in. Hoping to upgrade to a larger vehicle if prices drop before we leave, but we can live with the tiny car for a week if costs don't come done.

Just on note on Budget ... make sure you have your residence as Canada ... this dropped my one day rentals.

Thanks so much for the tip. I never thought to check the .ca site. Was able to get a full size March 10-17 in Tampa for $183/incl tax. Great deal!!!

I'm glad to see this thread. I started looking for a rental for my July trip about a month ago. While I realize that it's early and rates are still high I like to regularly check these things. Anyway, I booked with Budget....got a mid size for $238 incl taxes for an 11 day rental. I'm fairly sure that I will be able to find a lower rate as I get closer to the trip but this is a great starting point.

I also see that expedia.ca ..... not expedia.com have good rates for some locations. I haven't seen MCO yet, but I did book a full size car in PHX next summer for two weeks for the mid 400's with taxes in.

Just another heads up for anyone looking for a good rate on a rental car....

We had two ressies for our upcoming trip (Dec. 31 - Jan 7): $282 USD (incl. all taxes and fees) with National for an economy, and $259 USD all in for an economy with Enterprise (using a mystery code through carrentalsavers.com).

Webworm was able to beat that with a $237.70 CDN rate from Budget.ca using the Travelocity public code and a coupon, but that was the absolute lowest we could find. Other rates for our time period were over $700 for the week, so this sounded like a bargain in comparison. The December 31st pick up was killing us in our efforts to snag a better price.

Just for fun, I thought I would run our dates on Expedia.ca to see what their prices were. Lo and behold, I was able to secure a midsize with Dollar for $162.19 CDN with all taxes and surcharges included  . Same car, same date, same pick up/drop off times if booked directly with Dollar was $405.

For all those still searching for a good rate on a car rental, it might be worth taking a moment to run your dates through Expedia just to see what comes up.

And yes, I know that we are now locked into this rate, but quite honestly I have grown weary of continually searching for a better price, and we are happy with the $162 so now I can put my feet up and enjoy the holiday season :goodvibes .

Spouse can't drive for free with Dollar, so worth it to book with Budget instead.

DH doesn't want to drive to mall with teenager....

toesmom:

Didn't we PM last year about expedia.ca deals being so good (specifically Budget cars) versus expedia.com and other sites. It's the same as last year .... for some reason expedia.ca has great rate specials at certain times of the year with Budget. Don't know why ...

Ted

We have used Priceline in the past and got cars for 11/day.

It was great the one time, the lady looked at DH and asked how many would be in the car at pick up and gave us a free upgrade to a SUV!

We are always watching for deals.

Only worth it if you are going to use or need the 2nd driver ;) .

DH will be the only one driving our rental car......I hate driving in unfamiliar areas, and he is quite happy to be the chauffeur (thank goodness). Neither of us drink, so we don't need to worry about having the ability to have the other spouse drive. The Expedia savings was definitely the best option for us :thumbsup2 .

Ted, they do have great rates right now. I actually cancelled the booking through expedia for dollar you originally recommended, and now rebooked through expedia for budget. I check every so often, any you are right, it changes a lot.

Thanks for this info. I checked with budget and expedia and can't find anything under $217 and I only need a car for 4 days in February. Maybe that's the problem, that it's under 7 days? Any other suggestions??

Car rentals are based on demand and supply based on your dates which I don't know. Example a compact on expedia from Feb 4 - 8 is $101.92 with Dollar.

Is that at MCO? I forgot to mention that this is for PIE, not MCO. That may be the problem since it's a small airport? My dates are Feb. 8 - 12.

Yep the deal is not at PIE. I love that airport and flew in to PIE with Allegiant last March. You have to keep your eyes open for deals cause I got a minivan for 1 week with Alamo for $200 inc taxes. Checked across the bay at Tampa airport and compact with Dollar is $99.00.
