Budget Gifts for Kindergarten Class!!!-Help!!!

I buy those little stockings sold everywhere after Christmas each year for 75%-90% off. I spend around 20 cents each. Then I use glitter glue to write each child's name on their stocking. I put little goodies inside--pencils, eraser, lollipops, tattoos, etc. This year, I bought a big lot of the curly shoestrings that keep your shoes on without being tied. A lot of my kids seem to have perpetually untied shoes, and I hope these will be a big hit. So they will get a pair of shoe laces, a pencil, a lollipop and a candy cane. I guess I spend about $1 per child.

Love it! I will do this next year...

In the past my children have recieved books from their teachers. Most teachers "earn" some sort of credit from Scholastic Books. Or they have gotten a great deal (discount) on small books. Plus they are age/reading level appropriate.
The books are real simple ones, usually winter related. My son got one about a box of crayons getting along. The teacher often takes time to write a small note inside the book. All my children have saved the books that teacher's have given them.

Good luck.

great ideas! I need the reindeer food poem for our brownie meeting on Friday.
For a craft at the Holiday party, you could decorate gingerbread cookies. I bought a pack of 12 today at target for 4.00. It came with icing and sprinkles too.

We are making gingerbread houses. I am having the kids save their milk carton. If kids don't usually buy milk, I will ask parents to send in the 50 cents for milk that day. We will wash out the cartons and tape them back closed. This will be the base for the house.

We use graham cracker squares for the sides and use frosting to make them stick to the carton. Then I use 1/2 of a square to make the sides of the roof. You can even cut triangles to fit the other part of the roof(use a serrated knife) Then cover with frosting a candy.

All you need is graham crackers frosting and candy. Each child brings in something to help. I take pictures after the houses are made and then they get to eat them.

I know this doesn't help you right now but after Christmas, I always stock up on things 1/2 price and tuck them away for the following year. I do this will all types of teacher and student gifts. That way I am able to give a nice gift and I always avoid the stress of running around at the last minute as well as the financial drain.

I read some of the responses and I really like the idea of the reindeer food. It sounds like you are planning a party and you could incorporate the making of the food. I did that at my daughter's unicorn party (we used pink and blue sprinkles instead of red and green) and the kids loved it. I don't think I've ever seen a book but you could make up a great story!
