We redeemed Air Miles (we're in Canada) for $200 worth of Budget gift certificates. Our rentals will total $140, leaving a remainder of $60 of the gift certificate.

I have been trying to find out if that remaining $60 can be kept as a credit for future rentals or if we need to use the entire amount at this time.

Budget doesn't seem to know, and I can't get through to Air Miles.

Does anyone know??

I used a Budget rental certificate from Airmiles in Fort Myers last year. I don't know the answer to your question because our certificate was less than the cost of the rental.

One problem that we had in using the certificate is that you have to make sure that you book your reservation using the BCD code listed on the rental certificate. We had booked using the Costco BCD code, and there was no way to redeem the certificate that way. The agent at the desk switched the reservation to the Airmiles BCD code (the one printed on the certificate). The total cost of the rental came out to be about $40 more than the Costco reservation. So, our "$100 certificate" was really only worth about $60 to us. Better than nothing, but it was disappointing.

oh-oh. I booked Budget using Costco US site, and redeemed Airmiles for a $100 gift certificate. I thought you could just present it at the Budget counter like payment, which is what the Airmiles person I spoke to said i could do.

The rental prices have doubled since we booked, so if they make me re-book using the BCD code on the certificate- it will end up costing me more :sad2:
Guess i won't be able to use it this time

Not only that but the $100 certificate now cost 950 miles instead of 750!!!

Maybe you'll strike it lucky with the agent when you arrive, but the guy we had insisted that it needed to be the Airmiles BCD # because that was what was written on the certificate.

Let us know how it goes. I have enough airmiles for another certificate for our trip this December. Now that airmiles has eliminated Blue Jays gift cards as a reward, I'm not sure what else to redeem for But, after our experience in December, I'm hesitant, unless I can get a good deal using the Airmiles BCD code.

I will post. My trip is in August. This post has made me look further into the fine print. It says- not good for 1 way rentals too  I am flying into Ft. Lauderdale first- staying there a week before we drive up to WDW, then dropping car off at WDW after we check in.

I wonder if I can send the certificate back and get my airmiles back? I don't think I'll be able to use it at all. Don't know. Maybe it all depends on the agent you get?

We are staying at a Sheraton in Ft. Lauderdale- I can redeem airmiles for Sheraton stays, or Best Western. Best WEstern is easy- they sent you a credit card size Gift Card for what every denomination you pick. I've used them just like cash. No hassle. So I thought Budget would be the same :sad1:
