Budget friendly hotel- DC area

Anyone know of any decent budget friendly hotels in the DC area? Would be nice to be close to a Metro stop & free parking would be excellent. Looking to go the first week of August. I've seen a couple of possiblities, but thought maybe someone would have a suggestion. Thanks

OP - The name escapes me right now, but there is a very nice hotel (maybe it's an Embassy Suites?) in Alexandria right across from the King Street Metro station. You should look in Alexandria, Crystal City and I've had good luck in Bethesda at the Hilton Garden Hotel.

We always stay out of the city at the very last stop of the Metro line... hotels are much cheaper out there & we still have easy access to the city. It's been several years since we've been out, but I *think* we stay somewhere near Rockville?? If it's not that, it's the Shady Grove station that stay near.

There is an Embassy Suites there we stayed there last year. I do not know about the parking costs there, as we flew in. It was super convenient to the Metro and the free breakfast was excellent, and very filling! Alexandria was nice to walk around also.

Respectfully, there's nothing unhelpful or not nice about the quoted response. A very quick/simple search brought up four threads in the last two months - two of them in the last two weeks. The OP could probably get a lot of information there, since they're so current. A third recommended TravelZoo.com.

Depends what you mean by budget....

I researched a LOT for our trip in April...We went on a weekend which is significantly less for that reason. I was originally hoping to find in the $70 or so a night range, but after a lot of research I upped that to $100 a night (with parking included). Even tried pricelining a couple for $60 and $70 - but didn't win. And even if it was $60 - there was a $35 parking fee for that hotel - so it would have just barely been in my range.

I ended up finding a travelzoo deal for Marriott Wardman Park. THey quoted $99 a night, but after clicking into the hotels deal page - there was an offer for $109 with parking included and kids eat free. So I snagged it. I at least stayed CLOSE to my target amount.

I loved the hotel - right next to metro and a bunch of restaurants nearby. SOme people here on the DIS said they found the same hotel for the same rate with breakfast INCLUDED in that rate - if you could find that again it would be an incredible deal.l

If you can't find a good enough deal there - I recommend to keep your eye on travelzoo to see what pops up.

Call your representative's office for some tickets now!!!

I went last August to DC. I found that hotel rates were cheaper Thursday-Monday. DH and I stayed at Courtyard Dunn Loring Fairfax. The hotel was within walking distance to the metro and had free parking. It was around 25ish minutes to get into DC. The breakfast was great - if you do eat breakfast, it's a better deal to buy the hotel package that includes breakfast. Breakfast was about $10pp.

It was suggested by someone on the DIS and I continue to recommend it whenever people ask.
