I have also broken a couple of pieces on a ceramic tile floor 
Luckily it's very easy to find replacement pieces. I've had a couple of sets, but my favorite are the square ones I have now. I have the plain white ones and have picked up a few patterned plates (at the outlet store) that I mix in with them when I get bored.... the other sets I've had in the past have been discontinued so I just went with the white this time. I also get tired of the same old plates so this way I can buy a few extra plates from time to time and mix them in with the white so I feel like I have new dishes
