I want to get my children each a heated blanket for Christmas. Do you have one you love? Any deals on them?
Thanks

We have Sunbeam blankets. I would recommend something that has a pre-heat setting on it. Some of the blankets "sense" where you are in the bed and only heat up that area. If you aren't in bed yet and there isn't a pre-heat setting, you have to get into a cold bed because it didn't heat anywhere.

We pre-heat the bed and then turn the blanket off when we get in. The blanket doesn't need to run all night. Once it is warmed up, our body heat is enough to keep it warm.

My DD and DGS are asking for electric blankets for Christmas and I haven't been happy with what I am seeing in the stores this year. The blanket fabric is very thin (you can see through it) and the prices are sky high! A queen size is $150.00 and they have a 'sale' of 50% off which still makes the blanket of poor quality and $75.00! :headache:

I haven't seen any Sunbeam brands out this year.

My mom is getting both of my dd's this blanket for their birthdays.
She has one on her bed, and it's so incredibly soft.. much nicer than my (very rough feeling) heating blanket, lol!

She also had a 30% off coupon, so got them for about $30.

Also, saw this one... with a 30% coupon (usually fairly easy to come by), you can get it for about $42.

I have been looking to purchase new heated blankets for DH/me and DS, and I finally settled on these from JC Penney: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx...=http://www.jcpenney.com/products/Cg13367.jsp

They are currently on sale at 50% off, plus I was able to use
code PCNKSJC for an additional 15% off (code expires 12/1/2010). The overall rating at JC Penney is 4.5 out of 5 stars, so I figured it was worth a shot. I can't say how these work yet, since they have not been delivered, but thought you might want to take a look for yourself.

Have you considered a heated mattress pad instead of an electric blanket? I turn my heated mattress pad on an hour or so before I go to bed then turn it off. The bed is nice and toasty when I climb in, body heat then keeps it warm all night.

Just a thought. :)

I have one of theses and LOVE it. Mine has a preheat setting and low medium and high! I can still stick my feet out and not being smothered with heat. I just bought a Sunbeam heated throw which is obviously meant to be lightweight and i love it too. They have heated blankets at Costco by sunbeam for roughly 70.

I really miss my heated mattress pad. I can't have one since I bought my memory foam mattress. They comform to the body and the heat of the body so if I used a mattress pad it wouldn't comform as well.
I bought one of the heated blankets at Kohls last week with my 30% off coupon and used it one night. I hated it. It was heavy and uncomfortable. My mattress pad had more heat elements at the foot and less as it went to the top of the bed. This made the feet area warmer than the head and neck. (hot flashes kept the chest and head warm enough) The blanketwas hot all the way through and I mainly needed it on my feet.
I am in the process of making myself a rice bag and will use that for my cold feet. I hope it is enough, my feet are always cold and I hate being cold.

Not sure if they're still there but Walmart had one for it's online only special about 2 days ago. It came in a variety of colors including leopard print and was only around $29 and free shipping I think. Good luck.

Are these considered safe now? I grew up sleeping under one, and DH and I had one when we first got married. Then some study came along that said they were going to give us cancer (might have been something else, but it was bad) and we got rid of it. It was probably around the same time I replaced my aluminum cookware b/c it was going to kill me. :rolleyes1

I loved sleeping under an electric blanket. When I was a child my grandparents lived in a house that didn't have central heat. A little before they and whatever grandchildren were there went to bed, my grandfather would turn the blankets on so they could warm up. The only thing I remember getting cold in those frigid bedrooms was my nose!
