Budget for !@#@ GAS

Hi guys -

Someone mentioned a website that calculates what you'll pay for gas on a trip...you plug in the miles and it gives you an average. I can't find the thread. Anyone know the thread or web address?

We're having to reassess our budget for gas (WAS $2.99 for REGULAR TODAY), and was hoping to use this site. Starting to think it may be worth flying if we can get a good enough deal...crazy!

We had 17 days planned with our truck pulling our camper in November. Because of the $1100 it would have cost us for gas, we have decided to take our little car and get hotel rooms. It will only cost us about $500 for gas using the car!

The cost of gas is insane! We live in CT and our gas budget has doubled since our last trip. In 2003 gas was 1.49 (I still have the rcpts from that trip) and it cost us $400 in gas. So I'm figuring $800 this time around. (We have a diesel truck & tow a 32 ft travel trailer)

I did the calculations though, and it's still cheaper for us to drive. By the time you factor in flights, hotel & food (we only eat out 1-2 times when we have the camper) the cost creaps up very quickly.

Hopefully prices will drop before our trip in April. Good luck!

I know how you feel on gas prices. This last March when we went down to Disney, it was 200 bucks for gas for us to drive from Michigan. That was round trip and included driving around orlando. Now it's going to cost us more like 350.00 for gas. It's insane. I just did the calculator and as of right now it will cost 275 just to get there and back. Hopefully by March (when we are going again) it will cheapier!

We are in the same boat. We have a Toyota Sequoia and a little Saturn VUE. We have been discussing taking the VUE as the cost of gas will be about 1/2 but the Sequoia is so much more comfortable, has dual monitor TV headrests in the seats for DVD watching, etc....
