I am trying to think of a gift for couples (aunts and uncles) who we usually only see 4xs a year. I don't want to sound cheap but money is tight as we are saving for our wedding. But trying to keep the gift to the couples @ $15 and under.
So I got an e-mail from yankee candle that their tarts are only $1 so I came up with an idea.
GO to ACMoore or Michaels or maybe even Bed Bath and Beyond and get a tart warmer for cheap with their coupons.
Then go to Yankee candle and get some tarts maybe 2 or 3 each.
And then the little tea light candles from the dollar tree.
Wrap them up nice in a basket from dollar tree or in a nice bag.

Do you think this is a good idea or silly? I mean what is a man going to get from this? But its for THEIR house.

Fiance was going to request they not exchange this year but he chickened out. So now I am trying to think of a good idea. The couples are probably in their late 30's early 40s.

I think it sounds like a very nice gift. My husband is a huge candle fanatic (I have bought him several for Christmas) and would like this gift even more than me.

Bath & Body Works sells their 12 oz. Christmas soap and hand lotion in a holder, and it is already wrapped in cellophane for $15 a set. They have Noel Vanilla Bean, Peppermint Twist and Snow Kissed Berry. Plus, there are coupons out there to save $10 off a $30 purchase, so you would really be paying only $10 per set and it's perfect to set out on the sink.

BBW also has a sale on their large candles (2 for $20 which are usually $19.50 each). Put one in a cellophane bag and tie it up and it looks pretty! It's amazing how good things can looked wrapped up in cellophane.

I don't like oils or tarts because they can spill and make a mess.

OR someone posted a coupon for Yankee candle on here....Buy 2 get 2 free I think it was? The thread is here on the budget board.

It would be around $50 for 4 so under your budget and less work for you :) just put it in a nice gift bag.

who doesn't love Yankee candle

I would for sure not add tea lights to the gift. That makes it seem like you had this gift, then thought "It's not enough!" and threw tea lights in.

I was going to suggest votives over tarts, because I have plenty of votive holders I could pop those into instead of needing a tart warmer. But going that way, it's probably smarter to invest in one larger candle. Then just wrap it in a cute bag or cellophane. No need to spend money on a little basket. :thumbsup2

I also am not big on the tarts and would prefer the bigger candle. I think the tarts and tart warmer are messy. Good luck! It is tough this time of year!

I make gifts like this all the time. I think it's a fantastic idea :goodvibes

If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls, ey have some nice specialty food items. You could make up a little gift basket of treats for under. $15.

Or... a nice bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers?

I would make sure they don't have a problem with fragrances first. I can't stand anything "smelly". A coworker walked by today with too much cologne and I coughed for an hour.

On a side note....I see you live in Nj not sure if you have a BJs membership, but I saw a 2 pack of snow globes you could add picture inside. They were $12.00 for 2 and very nice and perfect for adults.
