We picked up our van rental from Budget at Orlando airport on March 11th. The line up was about an hour and 1/2! I am serious! There were many tired and upset customers. Most of us, just got off flights and it was such a loonngg wait. I really do not know why they did not have more people working. Just wanted you to know in case you thought of renting a vehicle from Budget. When we finally walked over to the spot to get our vehicle - it had many chips and scraps. That was the only negative part of our whole trip.

I rented from Budget on March 4 and had no problem at all. And there were lots of people at the counter in the airport. Our wait was less than ten minutes and that includes the time that it took for us to go across to the garage to pick up the car.
Why the difference in experiences?
Join the car rental companies' express services, even if you're only planning to use a particular company once.
Each of the companies has some variation of preferred service - separate queue, go directly to the booth in the garage and such.
It is worth the time to fill out paperwork BEFORE your trip than having to wait with the masses when all you really want to do is start your vacation and enjoy the Disney experience and weather.

you need to sign up for budget's fastbreak program. It's free and you don't have to stand in line. You go right to the kiosk in the garage. It's the best.

I did not know that! Thank you for the tip - I will remember that for next time.

can you bypass the counter even if it is your first time renting this way?

Yes you can. Which is what I did earlier this month (first time rental, bypassing the line). You just go to the Budget booth in the garage, show your license and pick up your keys.

I use Fastbreak also. Just walk out to the garage. That said, we just returned from WDW and when we arrived (3/19) the only car rental counter with a line (and it was a loonnngggg one) was Alamo.
