we have always used dollar any time we go but are planning to drop off the car at the port before our cruise and budget seems to be the closed to the port
if you have used budget before what did you think of them and what were there cars like
planning on hiring a full size car picking up from Disney not the airport
thanks for any info

Hi,
We used Budget last May when we did the Trans Atlantic cruise. Had no complaints with them. Can't remember the actual model of car we had but it was similar to the Neon's that Dollar use. We dropped it off at the terminal just down the road from the port and then got the shuttle to the port, all very simple.

When I got off the 10 Night Southern Caribbean in September 2006, the Budget office was hell.

There were people there who waited over an hour to be seen and then the car they had ordered wasn't available - never again.:sad2:

Used budget quite a few times the last couple of years with no problems and usually the que is much smaller at MCO than dollar. We also used them 16 months ago to the port and the rental office was a breeze both ways.

We have always used Dollar and parked up at the port but with increased parking fees considering all options, I did price up budget full size but Alamo(said I would never use again:rotfl2:) have a great offer on 4x4. Works out same price as budget but keeping it for full 24 nights, only extra would be the 4 nights parking fee $60, I think it might be worth £30 to park car at port and leave luggage in like we have before and have better car.
One thing with Budget is you have to pay for an extra day as you pick up after your cruise early but drop off at airport in afternoon, keeping for full duration of your holiday usually goes back before your collection time.
Our next cruise at Easter parking up but August cruise will look more closely.
Cruise after that is a 7 night so almost certain I will drop off then, just more difficult with 4 nighters.

Thanks everyone for your help
as were are leaving for the airport straight after the cruise and hopefully will get to use the new airline checkin on board are going with the disney refers

Hi there,

We have driven over to the coast a few times with varying degrees of success. We generally use Budget although I have noticed that it can be a long wait, the last time coming off the cruise I had to wait until they had a 12 seat van driven down from MCO. Another tip is to ensure that if the shuttle launch around the day/time of trip then the availabliity is not good. There were many in tears that day, and some very upset families that had to pay for a cab to MCO to make there flights. The best depot that I have seen for size transfer vans and slickest operation is by far Avis. They are situated on the main street.

It's just not worth the hassle - I'd pay for the car parking just for the total convienience rather than queue at Budget again.

We've used budget last two trips and been happy. We had a couple of problems last trip - dirty car and then a puncture - but were able to swap the car with no issue. We ordered the smallest car possible both times and were upgraded to intermediates for free
