Can you guys provide some ideas for clean budget camping locations in Wisconsin Dells? We are planning a trip in June and are thinking that tent camping may be the most budget way for us to go. I would like to stay somewhere that also has cottages/cabins as my Dad and his wife will be meeting us there and they won't want to tent camp. It would be nice if we could stay at the same location as opposed to them staying in a hotel somewhere while we are at the campgrounds.

Thanks so much!!!

I don't know if they are budget. But, I think if you book early you can get some good discounts at Jellystone in the Dells. It is quite a nice campground. They have a nice waterslide and pool. Also, they have some kids activities. I know they have cabins although I don't know much about them as we are always in our camper. Have fun:thumbsup2

Shorewood campground is supposed to be nice as well. I haven't personally stayed there in years, but I know friends who have in the past year and they said it was still nice. Not sure if they have cabins though.

If you want to stay right in the Dells, there is a Yogi Bear. The price is a little high but then again, everything in The Dells is high.

If you want a place that's a little more quiet, there is a campground called Yukon Trails a little north in Lyndon Station. It's right off the highway on HH about 15 mins away.

We live in the Chicago area but we have a lake house just north of the Dells. I buy a lot of certificates at a discount from a local radio shopping show. You may be able to listen on line. If not, if you sign up for their card (it's free) they will send you emails where you can purchase certificates at the discounted price. Put "Wisconsin Dells" in the search field. There are only a few things there now but there should be a lot more as it gets closer to summer. The certificates are only good for 90 days and the Dells pretty much shuts down in the winter. I have seen camping offers on the site in the past.

Have fun but be prepared to spend a lot of money. ;)

You may want to check out Mount Olympus..they have acquired A LOT of the older hotels and even a campground..they advertise that they have campsites available for rent and I have seen the outside of one of their cabins, seem pretty nice.and right now they have only a $5 deposit for all of their reservations books...I agree both Yogi Bear and Yukon Trails are nice campgrounds. My family stays at both very regularly when they come visit me...Make sure to check out the visitor bureau's website:

that is the link directly to the camping page

Here is the link for Mount Olympus:

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask..I'm a local to the Dells again and would be happy to help!

How about Christmas Mountain Village? You could camp and your parents could rent a cottage.

We're staying at Hotel Rome over spring break for a few nights. The campgrounds at Mt Olympus include the admission to the water park(s) there so if it's higher, you won't have that additional cost to consider.
This spring we got a king bunk bed room at Hotel Rome for $70/night. Not too bad.

We love Jellystone Parks and that was our first thought but then I checked the W.Dells one out on TripAdvisor and it had really bad reviews. Very noisy, dirty, and the sites are extremely small.

For the pps' that have been there...you sound like you enjoyed it. Do you completely agree with the TripAdvisor reviews? I would love a detailed review if you don't mind. We really love Jellystones and would love to stay at this one so please help change my mind. :)

I can personally recommend Sherwood Forest as well. We stayed there two years ago. The campsites were wooded and large. They have cabins also. The bathrooms were clean, always important when camping in a tent. The location cannot be beat, it is practically downtwon but in the woods. We loved our trip to the Dells and the campground. If you went here, I would get a site up the hill by the cabins, those were larger and more private.

We stayed at Jelystone a couple years back and it was a disaster! Our campsite that they tried to give us was basically large enough for the tent and it was in the fork of the road! I asked to be moved cause I didnt want to take a chance to get ran over in the middle of the night! :scared1: The grounds when we were there were not clean at all but I blame most of it on other campers cleanliness.
