OMG. Rental car prices are SO expensive! We're going to the world, staying offsite, the first week of October. Any advice to help bring the cost down!? I have a $40 gift certificate to Alamo so I'm hoping to go with them, but I'm MORE THAN WILLING to go to another company if there's a good deal that I'm missing!

TIA :worship:  :sad2: :headache:

Stay onsite. No rental needed, Disney transportation to/from airport and around the resort.

Mousesavers.com has a few Alamo codes that are valid for rentals starting by October 15.

Do you or anyone you know have an Entertainment coupon book? There are some pretty good discount codes in there.

Ohhhh great idea!

We would stay onsite and be out of this mess, but we're staying at a friend's timeshare in Kissimmee for the week instead....for the first time ever....

Maybe try bidding for a car rental on Priceline.
I would make a back-up reservation NOW and then keep on checking back. You don't want to bid on Priceline until a week or two before your trip. Check with Hotwire and bid on PL when the HW prices come down.

Book with the best price now. Then keep watching for a better deal. We went this past Feb and prices were nuts for months and then all of a sudden about 3 weeks before the needed dates the prices dropped. Good luck finding a good price.

I found a decent price at Enterprise through carrentals.com, so I'm booking that NOW and then I guess I'll just keep checking! BAH doggone rental cars!

I agree, make a reservation at the best you can get for now, then keep checking until you find one that is better, then jump on it.

I did just that last year and I saved big and managed to get a mini van for less than what I had started out with a mid sized car.

Good luck.

National lets you stack codes. If you go to mousesavers you can find a bunch of them.
We were able to get a great deal on a minivan- thanks to creative stacking. And when we picked it up at the airport even the rental agent told me great deal!

Most of the codes and coupons available right now expire 6/30/10. I have been trying to get a vehicle for August and it's killing me! You've already heard the best advice: Book the best you can find right now and keep checking rates weekly. I am confident that (a) new coupons will come out soon and (b) prices will come down; they HAVE to, as they are astronomically ridiculous right now!!

Go over to the transportation board and find the thread for October... you'll get lots of good codes over there. Then stack those codes and keep checking back every week. Prices will drop.

Oh yea, one other thing, I have already saved big, when I made my car reservations I forgot we have AAA, so I called and yep they would do my discount, I saved $40 for the rental for our camping trip later this month and then for the trip for next May, the took off $75 (bother 15% each time). So if you have or plan to get a AAA membership it might be worth it to see what you can save.

Well, just a thought, never thought I would be a supporter of AAA, but here I am:confused3.

I always find the best mininvan rates 4-6 weeks before traveling. Did you try Sunpromo with Alamo?
