The handle on my dishwasher broke. It doesn't latch anymore which means it won't run. Is there any way to fix that without getting a whole new dishwasher?

Depending on what has happened, you can probably just have the latch/handle replaced if it can't be fixed. You did not mention who the manufacturer is but you might want to contact them with the model number - it is pretty likely that they have the part you need.

Some manufacturers show parts and part numbers on their websites.

Good luck !

Depending on how old it is, you should be able to get most parts for it.

Do some research on the 'net or take the broken piece to a local appliance parts place and they can look it up.

I assume that someone in your house is a little handy and could fix it???

If not, and the parts are available, a repair person could handle the fix for you.

Try Repairclinic.com enter your info and see if the part is available. Maybe you could replace it yourself. We have used them to repair some items that in the past would have been tossed (full size house humidifier)part was like $25 vs $175 for a new unit, good luck.

My dishwasher just broke too. On ours, the water valve is not working. , It's a long shot, but If yours is a GE profle that's about 16 years old, I'd be glad to take our latch out and send it to you. Is yours physically broken or is it just not working?:hippie: I can send you the model number for exact match, if that would help.

My husband replaced the water inlet on our old dishwasher. It wasn't an expensive part and was a fairly quick repair. It works fine now. It's still noisy as ever but I couldn't justify a new machine given how cheap it was to repair.

I've used parts from appliancepartspro.com to good success.

The model number is usually located somewhere on the dishwasher were you can find it. Like the end of the door, etc.

If you can't get replacement parts for it I suggest checking on craigslist to see if anyone is selling a used on cheap. We sold our dishwasher for about $50 on craigslist when we got a newer one from a friend. Our older one worked great. The only reason we replaced it was because we got the new one.

Good luck!
