Hi, dh is (surprisingly) voicing the desire to go back to WDW. We were there last summer, at WL but we need 2 rooms. I KNOW that if I can come to him with a low total cost, he will agree to go. ;)

I have been reading this board all morning today, but am afraid to guess on a site to stay in.

There are 2 adults, 4 kids. We would drive down from Ohio again, so we don't need shuttles. Condos are fine, vacation homes are fine, hotels are fine (a suite or connecting rooms are fine). My kids like to spend a little time in the pool, but 3 of them cannot swim yet so it is not a HUGE selling point for us at all.

What we would NOT like is taking 45 minutes to get back to our room (or condo). Also, we would not want to stay in an unsafe area.

But really, a Days Inn would be fine if it was priced right and was a decent place to stay (meaning better than Disney's value resorts, which we found lacking ...loud, long checkin wait, and iffy mousekeeping...on 2 visits).

Check on www.mousesavers.com for her suggestions and sign up for her newsletter so you get links to savings. We just stayed at Doubletree Suites in DTD through her and got a two room suite (2 beds and sofabed), fridge, micro, newly renovated rooms, with our breakfast (which was great) included. We were a couple minute drive to any park or DTD (could walk). The site has 9 preferred non-Disney lodging suggestions, some suites with breakfast included and also gives her thoughts on other resorts. Great resource with professional opinions.

We stayed in this house in June. It's 4BR/3BA with a separate LR and Den and comes with a screened pool. It's not elaborately themed but was comfortable and had everything we needed. We liked that it was in a gated community (about 15 or 20 minutes to Disney - it's in Davenport).

We got it at the last minute for $480 a week (including tax). We used a credit card for our own protection (which added 3% if I'm not mistaken). We didn't have pool heat since it was June, so that will add to the cost, I'm sure.

Just email the owners and ask for a price. A friend of ours and got a price of about $600 for Thanksgiving week (with pool heat).

I totally understand about being on a budget, but please don't stay at Days Inn. I've heard more negative reports than good ones. I got stuck there once by priceline and it was not pleasant. It was cheap ($29 a night) but not worth it.

We have stayed at Cypress Point (booked with hotelkingdom.com) and really liked it. Double Tree at Downtown Disney is great too. The best way to get a good rate (anywhere) is to go in the off season if you can.

Have to go peak season -- dh is a teacher, and I am in nursing school during the school year. We'd go as late in August as we can (3rd week), but that is as off-peak as we can get.

I think you'll be ok in late August. There are worse times to go.

Are we related? I am doing the same with my dh. We went last year and he hates the heat. this year we are going to drive and visit family in va then head to Disney. I want to stay on sight however we have 4 kids pluss we are taking our daughters friend. so I really want to save and the less the $ the :goodvibes hubby is. so I want to plan 5 days in disney for about 1800 is it possible who knows pluss I will need spending let me know. fyi we stayed in the Days inn by universal :scared: it was ok but we asked for new blankets when we first arraived and we had to call 3 different times for them to clean!

We jsut got back from the Comfort INn, Lake Buena Vista--we got it for less that 40 an night--it was fine. Very close to Disney, small refrig & microwave.
Check out the coupons that come with the Orlando Magic Card--you might find something better for you--can't hurt and it's free

Check out the prices on the regular hotels website as well have found to be cheaper the supposedly the pricelines expedias and hotwires in most cases but not all atleast for me anyway. Check out Choicehotels.com this is the Econolodges, Comfort Inns, and Quality Inns just to name a few. If staying off property try staying in the 192, International Drive and Irlo Bronson Drive (is also the same as I 192 one of those roads that changes but is still the same road)area close to WDW
