Hey gang! I remember the good ol days when I first started at WISH over 2 years ago...someone had the GREAT idea of pairing up the WISH losers with a buddy to help encourage, support, nag, and hold us accountable for being a big loser! My first buddy has met goal (over a year ago) and I've lost touch with my other buddy. LittleMissMickey was asking for a buddy and it reminded me of how much I lost while buddying up...so I'd like to take names....let me know if you're interested in having a buddy...a good way is to match up with someone who has about the same amount of weight to lose or might have the same challenges...so if you're interested...put how much you want to lose and any challenges you may have. I'll go first....

I want a WISH Buddy!! Thank you, Tara, for starting this thread!!!

I am looking to lose about 15 pounds here in soon-to-be chilly Minnesota. I am 23 years old and a Kindergarten teacher who is exhausted by the end of the day... One would think that it would trigger some loss! I have a bad habit of eating junky kinds of food just because I can... And I really want a WISH Buddy who is ready to conquer laziness and get out and move and groove! :banana:

I also like long walks on the beach, pina coladas, rain, etc... Do I sound like your type?! :rotfl2:

I would like to have/become a WISH buddy.

I am 53 - and want to lose 20 - 25 lbs. I am currently training to walk the WDW half marathon in January.

I think my biggest obstacle to weight loss is not eating enough and not eating the right things. I have a daughter who fixes most of the meals and she is not fond of meat. We eat a lot of pasta. I need to keep track of the calorie intake versus the expenditure with exercising about 3 hours per week and walking between 3 and 10 miles on Saturdays.
 
I'm fairly new to the boards, joined a scrapbooking swap...
I lost 30 pounds, but have gained back 15 or 20 of them, so definitely need someone to help me lose again. I need to lose AT LEAST 50 pounds, but probably more like 60. I don't know how much I weigh right now, but I want to be 150 pounds, and I'm over 200. I usually average around 225... probably at 215 now... MAYBE 210. Anyone out there need to lose this much weight? I'm thinking I might "settle" for a goal of being 175. We'll see. I am a SAHM, so need to get out and move more... need to stop eating so many sweets and treats, and probably need to stop eating so much yummy fattening foods like burritos topped with cheese and sour cream (salsa and corn too! But still...) I need to stop spending so much time at my desk, on the computer and scrapping. I REALLY need to stop spending so much time on the computer, would love some serious help with that!

Yes I want, NEED a wish buddy

I'm 35 and need to loose about 30lbs. A few years ago I joined the gym and lost 70 lbs with a personal trainer and when that was over I started working for the gym part-time which helped me not gain anymore weight but I quit working there in Sept and I've slowly been gaining weight again. Basically I have been hanging around the house while the kids are in school and eating junk while doing housework. I need help and I really don't want to undo all the hard work over the past 3 years.

I'd love to have a WISH buddy. I've been trying to lose weight for a while now, and just recently joined a gym. I'm 19 years old, 5'2 and would like to lose 30 lbs. (More would be great, but I have to be realistic) My biggest challenge is that I'm a picky eater, and my biggest downfall is potatoes. I enjoy them any way they are made, and would eat them all the time if I could. But I can't and thats a little hard for me. Anywho Sign me up!! :goodvibes
 
Hi!

I'd love a WISH buddy. I need to lose 10lbs. I've lost 15 since the first of the year, but for the last several months I have gained and lost the same few pounds many times. I am training for the WDW half marathon in January. I've gone from a complete couch potato to walking 10-15 miles per week (I just need to pick up the pace so I can finish the half in the 3.5hr time limit!!). I turned 50 this past March and am determined to take better care of myself!!
 
I'd love to have a WISH buddy. I'm a 33-year-old SAHM of two, and I need to lose about 60 pounds. I lost between 25-30 pounds earlier this year through WW and exercise, but I've packed back on 17 pounds after a recent surgery. I swear that I can eat one meal and gain 5 pounds! :confused3 I have trouble simply making the time for myself. I have this idea in my head of how I want my day to go, but then I wake up. :teeth: DD6 keeps me busy with schoolwork, dance and piano lessons and DS2 keeps me busy the rest of the time. I'm involved in DD's school and our church, so there's not as much down time as I would like. I find myself not eating until I'm starving, and we can all guess what sometimes happens then. I've recommitted to WW this week. and it's going well. Any extra support I can get would be great! ::yes::
 
I would also love a Wish Buddy again! I've lost contact with my old one.

I'm 31 and a mom of 1. I want to set a good example for my daughter and prove to myself and everyone else that I can do it. I guess my challenge will be to try to eat healtier and exercise more. I need to loose about 80 pounds.

Hey gang!!! Here's the plan...we'll keep this up for 3 weeks and hopefully most WISH'ers will have had time to check in. Then I'll PM each of you with your buddy's name trying to match you up by commonalities and goals...I can already see some matches made for losing! :)

I can't tell you how WONDERFUl it is to have a buddy that PM's you and there's something about getting to know one person well enough to let your ups and downs show at any level. This was such a HUGE boost to my losing 60 pounds here these first two years...now I'm down for the final 30 and feeling like I can do it...with a little help! :)

OK I've got to be honest. It's not just a matter of less computer time & more moving time. I also need less cheese steaks & quick fix meals. :teeth:
 
If it's not too late I need a WISH buddy -

I have about 30lbs more to go and with the cool weather setting in I will have to dust off the WATP DVD's and the Carmen Electra Striptease (can I say that on the DIS boards) Aerobics and start working out in the house again - I can't really afford a membership to a GYM but every once in a while I will treat myself to a new Workout DVD - and I have a bicycle that I like to ride in the nicer weather - Let me know if I can still participate

I would like a WISH buddy. I think it's a great idea. I'm thirty-five years old and am guessing that I need to lose about 80lbs. I'm 5'10in and the weight range for my height is 134-174. That's a big difference. Well, I've never been close to any of those numbers (at this height), so I don't really know what I'm shooting for.
My challenge is that I have never lived a healthy lifestyle, so it's hard to get used to now.

You'll be thinking differently with a WISH buddy!! Something about holding your buddy accountable makes you want to choose healthy choices! :) It really works!! :)

MagicalMOm!!! I know what you mean....I'm just always on the go and tired...but when I take my vitamin, get my exercise in, drink my water, I really do have more energy!!!! Oh and of course eat veggies instead of a cheeseburger in a wrapper! :)

We can do this gang!!! 2 more weeks to sign on folks!!! Then we'll have another sign up in 3-6 months.

I would love a buddy. I am a 29 yr old teacher in Toronto, Canada. I would love to lose 65 pounds by next September. I need to get healthy. My biggest problem is making my own meals. It is alot easier to order take out. I am just recently single so I've been walking for about 50 minutes each day to keep my mind in focus.

i just wanted to pop in and give everyone here a cyber high-five for making this commitment out loud!!! WISH buddies are awesome and i wanted to share my story -- well the short version. I was in the original PM Buddy match-up back in 2003 and was connected with a fellow WISHer and together we pumped each other up! anyhow -- she had a second buddy and we soon merged into a trio and went to email. Soon after we merged with my Mom (AlreadyexcitedGrammy) and her buddy. It was so exciting to meet 2 of my 3 buddies that December at the first WISH meet at WDW.

sadly one member of our group has moved on and is no longer in contact with us. The four of us decided to sign up for the 2005 WDW 1/2 marathon and that brought the addition to my cousin into our training and buddy email group. To this day we ALL (less the one loss 1/04) still email, sometimes daily, and lean on each other to keep encouraged, motivated and accountable. These ladies are truly my heart and soul of my WISH journey!

to those who have been lurking on this thread and pondering it -- GO FOR IT! even if you tried and you've lost touch -- hang in there! this is a good thing, keep trying until you find that one buddy you connect with and together you will bring awesome power!!!
