My family is planning a quick BUDGET trip to Orlando next summer. This is a squeezed-into-the-summer, no-big-deal trip, and we're trying to do it cheaply. Hotel is taken care of, and we're close enough to drive. We can afford to spend on meals, etc., but we're trying to minimize ticket costs. Excluding transportation days, we expect to have three full days to play.

We have one park hopper day left-over from our last Disney trip, and we'll probably use it for Animal Kingdom in the morning and MGM in the afternoon. Of course, we'll go early and stay late to maximize our one park hopper ticket.

We also have a couple Park-Hopper-Plusses left on the hopper pass, and we'll probably do a half-day at a water park, then go to Disney Quest.

That leaves us with one full "play day", and I'm interested in going somewhere new. With two girls ages 8 and 11, would you choose Universal or Sea World? Why? Both girls are coaster hounds, and the little one is now over 48" tall, so I'm thinking she can ride pretty much anything (though she didn't like Tower of Terror). On the other hand, both also love animals.

Or is there something other than Seaworld or Universal you'd choose? Opinions are welcome!

I would go to Universal if they love coasters.

You do know that Disney Quest cannot be used with one of your plusses- just the water parks.

Yes, I know that the plusses don't work for Disney Quest, and the Quest tickets aren't really cheap. But I think it's something my two video game girls would love.

Thanks for the Universal vote. Anyone else?

if they are roller hounds - definitely IOA (Island of adventure) at US - but all the Orlando theme parks for one day are expensive - go get the 2day use it for 5 day pass.

The Quest tickets can be gotten for $21 each if you order them ahead...and $20 each if you pick them up at their store...and if you do that you get a free 20min phone card and 2 minigolf tickets.

You have to be a mousesavers member (free) and register for her (Mary's) newsletter (free). Mary has amazing info. My two favorite sites are this one and mousesavers.com...oh, and Deb Will's restaurant menus and prices!

I'm a member of Mousesavers and I've looked at her website for information on Disney Quest. I don't see anything about the free phone card and mini golf tickets. Can you give me more information?

We are planning to do Disney Quest for our upcoming May, 2005 trip!

Thanks!

I love mousesavers.com!

As for tickets, we've ordered from Ticketmania.com with great success. The prices were good, and they arrived in exactly one week. My SIL, on the other hand, ordered from Ticketmania and had a big mix-up. However, she ordered just before their trip and had the tickets delivered to their hotel. The moral: order well ahead of time.

I have not checked their site, but I believe they offer some goodies for picking up your tickets.
